UPDATE - JUNE 27, 2025 Just had a birthday lunch for my 90 yr old (young) friend, with 4 other friends. We all tremendously enjoyed the Chicken Balls, Chicken Fried Rice, Mixed Vegetables, Pork Cop Suey, and Beef & Green Peppers. ALL were very happy with the meal, with very few leftovers. The food arrived hot and properly cooked. I love wok cooked food as they tend to be cooked and crunchy, not soggy. The restaurant was VERY accommodating as I asked for no eggs in their Chicken Fried Rice. (Allergies involved!) Overall, it was a resounding success!
UPDATE - June 28, 2024 WANNABE HEALTHY SIDE DISH CONNOISSEUR The rating for this small but mighty restaurant stays the same - outstanding food!
I wanted to comment on my new reality of buying takeout on a budget - a very tight budget, with a focus on healthier options. Thus, much of my current reviews focus on healthier side dish offerings at restaurants.
My now go-to dish at Phong's Court is their Vegetable Soup. It is rich in healthy vegetables: broccoli, celery, leeks, onions, and carrots in a very light broth. Delicious.
At $5.99, it is an affordable healthy option, and to stretch its value, I will often eat half initially, then save the rest to add as a base for cooking a quick microwave rice or potato dish the next day. My vegetable quotient for an extra day, having been met, at least according to my weak standards. (When you cook for one, as I do, vegetables are often low on the quick fix for one menu. Sorry, no pictures this time - got caught in the celebration. Okay - I forgot to take them. My bad.
..................... First, there are no ratings for service or atmosphere due to only ordering take out and delivery.
Second, their food is outstanding.
Have ordered their beef and broccoli many times, and always supremely happy with the food.
Often have the mixed vegetables and the chicken/pork chop suey and they are great!.
Very happy...
Read moreOne of the only "Chinese" restaurants open on family day so I gave it a shot. Pretty expensive but the portion was large so that was a positive thing... however... this IS NOT Chinese food or even Canadian Chinese food. It takes exactly what you would expect Chinese food to taste like if it was copied by Indian immigrants. It was bland as hell and the beef was so tough and chewy that it was obviously that it was very low quality beef that wasn't marinated and treated properly. I took the food and and had to put it in a frying pan, season it and add A LOT of soy sauce... otherwise it was like eating steamed vegetables with rice. The guy working there was nice but my man, read a book! Watch some you videos! Ask AI! Learn how to make Chinese food properly or don't sell it and change the theme of your restaurant. The reviews (not the ones posted by your indian friends) speak...
Read moreWe were staying at a Hotel on the Canadian side and really wanted some Chinese food. There was nothing close to the hotel with decent reviews but here was Phong's with delivery service. We called, very nice over the phone and said it would be 30-45 minutes for delivery. They delivered on the dot and we were very happy. They included plates for sharing and all of the utensils to make life easy.
As for the food, my pineapple fried rice (Hot) was just what I needed. We also ordered some orange and generals chicken. The two that had those had a hard time telling which was which but the veggies were fresh and overall good taste. Not everyone loved the egg rolls, but I had no trouble eating the extras lol.
Overall, this was a great option if you are looking for some decent Chinese food delivered to your room in the...
