The soups and sandwiches are good, but average tasting. I do enjoy their clam chowder and cream of broccoli soup. Although they very rarely have other soup options to choose from, besides all the tomato based, loaded and meat based soups they make. Personally if this is primarily a soup place, I would think they would offer more of a variety of soups (not similar ones every week). The odd time they add a non-tomato or non-chicken/meat based soup to their weekly menu. I myself havenāt witnessed the service in person, but know some people who havenāt had a great experience. My mother heard they were advertising a special for home-made different flavoured cheesecakes. She ordered a cheesecake and other food items over the phone from a woman, confirmed that she would be picking it all up at a certain time during store hours, but when my mother arrived to pick it up (rushed there after work), the lady told her she had given the cake away and could not hold it for her, after she specifically told her she would. She claimed she was unsure/didnāt think my mother was going to show up so she gave the cake we pre-ordered away to someone else (before closing time). The lady was not even apologetic about the situation, more so had a bit of an attitude. My mother and her coworkers used to order from there regularly on their lunch hour. They now found out they charge extra when you order online instead of in store, so beware of that! Itās not something they advertise either.
PS. Maybe you should change the way you respond to criticism for your business. People are entitled to have their own personal opinions and to voice concerns. You seem to get very defensive over customersā concerns and make them feel like their issues are not valid or made up. Not a good look for a local business owner. Yes, I am aware cheesecake is not on your everyday menu, it was a special you advertised for a holiday or special occasion of some sort! I donāt appreciate being made to feel like I am making things up, just to post a review you donāt agree with. It seems you do this to any customer who tries to criticize your establishment. Thereās always an excuse or āmisunderstandingā. Iāve read other reviews and heard from word of mouth about the lack of customer service at times, for your business. Sounds like something you should work on improving, if you want to keep customers coming back. Not belittle and insult...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve come here a couple of times, and the first time I came I was told they could not make half the menu (sandwiches and wraps) because of other orders. I understood and ordered something else despite specifically coming for that. Food was alright, but I did receive it just on the brink of cold. I have since come again, and same thing. Im happy to give a second chance, but if I consistently am not able to order half of the menu, I think that is pretty unfair to customers that take the time to support a local business and hope to receive what is posted on the menu. If the business does not have the manpower to support their orders, they should hire more people or note on their menu these limitations. I will not be coming again. I think this is why itās hard for people to support small owned business, because we are not met with consistent service. Sorry guys, I wanted to like this, but I havenāt had a good experience. Noting your other reviews, I think itās time to take some constructive feedback.
Re: It is fair to give a review based on your experience. Many small businesses are able to serve their customers what is put on the menu. Like I said, maybe put a note about how your restaurant runs. I wasted most of my lunch break to come support the business and waited ten minutes in line before being told this. It is not very fair for your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went to the Soup & Things food truck at the Canada Day celebration at Firemen Park, and while we expected a long wait when we lined up because of how busy it was, the wait was outrageous. We stood in line for an hour and a half, with the intent to purchase poutine, and waited very patiently as the people ahead of us got theirs and walked out of line. Finally, the Vietnamese family in front of us ordered poutine, and the lady in the truck gave a curt āNo gravy.ā without looking up at them. When it was our turn, my mother (Filipino) asked about the poutine, she received the same response. This was obviously disheartening for how long we had waited in line, but we understood if they had just run out and we ordered something else. Then, when the man directly behind us ordered a poutine, the lady didnāt tell him āNo gravyāāinstead, she took his order in a friendly manner, laughing at his unfunny joke. Obviously, my mother walked back up to the counter and questioned this, and the lady and man cooking in the back said something about āwe can only make so much poutine at a timeā and tried to dismiss her, but my mother asked if she could order one now and the staff begrudgingly agreed. I donāt really know what to say other than this service was awful, and if I ever saw this food truck at another event I wouldnāt even spare it a...
