Dave's Green Papaya — Restaurant in North Bay

The food is very good, but the service was not very good at all. Went on a sunday night with a group of 6, and had a beer before my meal came. My glass was empty as was my water while I watched the waitress standing at the bar area staring off into space, or wandering back and forth to the other table (there were only three tables occupied at the time), one other group of 5 and a table of 2. The server mixed up our orders, served a completely wrong order, and when it was brought to her attention asked "do you want to just have that anyway?" and then plain forgot to serve included rice with one of the dishes. NOT AUTHENTIC ASIAN cuisine. Over-priced. Shrimp tempura and wonton soup are ok but the main dish which we waited for about an hour came out TERRIBLE. Trio mushrooms with shrimp is swimming in its sauce which I expected to be a stir-fried kind of dish. Chicken teriyaki is way to SALTY and didn’t use teriyaki sauce instead soy sauce that soaked my rice . For a person with kidney problem like me I just can’t eat that. I was just so nice not to say anything that evening. I just pay the bill and left but deep inside I was so mad because we waited for so long and yet never even satisfied what is my expectations....

Just had an early dinner at Dave's. The food was very good, we had spring rolls, followed by soups ( I particularly like the hot and sour my husband ordered). My husband had Pad Thai, and I had the Tri Mushroom dish. Portions are generous enough we will be having the same for lunch tomorrow! Friendly staff and good service. The price was very reasonable. The only negative, in an almost empty restaurant, why place people right by the bar where they get to hear all the conversations from the staff. Not that some of the conversation was not...
