Carpe Grill and Diner 📍 The Shipyards – 125 Victory Ship Way #122, North Vancouver, BC V7L 0B2

Food

Chicken Wings (Honey Garlic)

The honey garlic wings were well-executed, offering a balanced combination of sweetness and savory depth. The seasoning was spot on, enhancing the flavor without being overpowering. The wings were cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside while remaining juicy and tender inside.

Rating: 8/10

Blue Shums Burger

All-beef patties with melted cheddar cheese, sautéed mushrooms, pickles, lettuce, ketchup, and buffalo blue cheese sauce

This burger delivered bold flavors with its juicy beef patties and well-melted cheddar. The sautéed mushrooms added an earthy richness, while the pickles and buffalo blue cheese sauce provided a tangy contrast. The ingredients were fresh and well-balanced, making it a satisfying choice.

Rating: 8/10

Mexican Slaw

Roasted corn, red cabbage, diced jalapeños, green onion, feta cheese, extra virgin olive oil, and Mexican slaw dressing

This side dish was a standout. The combination of roasted corn, crunchy cabbage, and spicy jalapeños created a dynamic mix of flavors and textures. The crumbled feta added a creamy, salty contrast, while the Mexican slaw dressing tied everything together with a refreshing tang. It was vibrant, well-seasoned, and a perfect accompaniment to the meal.

Rating: 9/10

Ambiance

Carpe Grill and Diner is a small but well-maintained establishment. The interior is clean and inviting, making it a comfortable spot for a casual meal. While the space is not large, it feels cozy rather than cramped.

Rating: 8/10

Rating: 8/10

I must say, this place has one of the better tasting smash burgers in Vancouver. Was contemplating on what to eat by the ship yard and stumbled upon this place. Establishment was nice and was greeted by a very friendly waitress who took my order. I ordered a smash burger with a poutine/pop combo. After I was able to take a seat while waiting around 10-15 minutes for the food. The restaurant was a nice and small complex, although a bit dark, served as a nice spot for me to have a seat and enjoy my burger.

When the burger came I did not expect the size to be so big, approximately the size of my hand extended out. At first looked a bit underwhelming but when I took my first bite, the patty had a nice crunchy exterior but warm interior, the sauce on the smash burger was a tad spicy, creamy, and garlicky which paired perfectly with the patty. Inside also contained caramelized onions and pickles which added a sweetness with a hint of acidity into the bite. Everything blended in nicely as I kept on taking more bites. Burger was delicious.

When it came to the poutine, I can't really say for certain if I would call it a poutine. Gravy doesn't taste like your average gravy but more of a spicy curry mixture. To me, the combination of this spicy curry/gravy mixture with the fries doesn't mix well. There were cheese curds but not enough. Otherwise a pretty solid poutine if the reader of this review doesn't mind.

In conclusion, this establishment has amazing service, fantastic smash burger, and a somewhat underwhelming poutine. Would I recommend this place? Yes I would, this is a burger spot, not a poutine one. I would definetly...

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Carpe Grill & Diner, and it was an experience worth sharing! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a relaxed yet vibrant vibe that made us feel right at home.

We decided to try their veggie burger, and it was nothing short of amazing. As vegetarians, we often find ourselves with limited options at most restaurants, but Carpe Grill & Diner truly exceeded our expectations. The veggie patty was perfectly seasoned, with just the right balance of texture and flavor. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making this dish not just an option for vegetarians but a standout menu item on its own. Paired with fresh toppings and a soft bun, every bite was delicious and satisfying.

The service was equally impressive. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about ensuring we had a great experience. Nader, in particular, went above and beyond to make our visit special. He was not only professional and courteous but also had such a positive and welcoming attitude that it added to the overall enjoyment of our meal.

It’s rare to find a place where both the food and service are exceptional, but Carpe Grill & Diner nails it. Whether you’re a vegetarian or just someone looking for a great meal, I highly recommend giving this place a try. We’ll definitely be back soon, and next time, we might even bring some friends along to share...

Wow! Being a former Lolo local I can safely say that I've eaten at nearly every restaurant in the area, an expensive and delicious adventure to say the least. The service, these are some darn good people that deserve your business. They care and their food and establishment speaks loudly to their commitment. Friendly and welcoming. The restaurant, CLEAN! Like spotless clean. Between their kitchen area and service area the place is spotless. Well done! The food, expensive and worth it! I am willing to pay any amount to eat the best food that is available to me. The ingredients are the pinnacle of fresh, the quality exceptional. In the top list of best tasting smash burgers I've had, and I've had a lot 😅 I had my go to burger spot, known for massive food and amusingly bad service (part of its charm) at a similar price point... I will come to Carpe hands down every time I'm in the area going forward. Exceptional quality food is the result of high quality ingredients that are prepared by people who care, all of which comes at a premium that I am willing to pay. Oh, and they are licensed... Enjoy!
