A Long-Overdue 5-Star Review: In Praise of Authentic Persian Hospitality (and That Amazing Doogh!) Better late than never! This review comes nine months after our unforgettable dining experience, but the memory remains as fresh as that incredible homemade Doogh we enjoyed last summer on August 5th. As a family of Persian cuisine enthusiasts, we recently visited another excellent North Vancouver Persian restaurant for Mother's Day. While the grilled meats were succulent and the saffron rice perfectly fluffy, the absence of Doogh - that quintessential Persian yogurt drink - left our celebration feeling slightly incomplete. This only made us reminisce more fondly about that magical late afternoon last summer (at a restaurant whose name we regrettably didn't note at the time). The meal itself was superb - juicy kebabs and aromatic rice - but what truly elevated the experience was: The server's thoughtful gesture of offering a complimentary sample of their homemade Doogh before bringing our family-sized order The drink's perfect balance of tangy, salty, and herbal flavors - so authentic and refreshing! The clear pride they took in serving this traditional beverage After extensive Google Maps detective work post our Mother's Day meal, I'm thrilled to have finally rediscovered your establishment! To the wonderful team (especially our server that night): • This belated thank you comes with deepest appreciation for your warm hospitality • Your Doogh remains the gold standard by which we judge all others • Please never remove this signature item from your menu - it's a treasured part of Persian culinary heritage To fellow diners: If you appreciate authentic Persian dining complete with traditional beverages, this is the place to visit. That homemade Doogh isn't just a drink - it's a cultural experience! To the restaurant owners: In an era when many restaurants are simplifying their menus, your commitment to tradition is both noticed and deeply valued. That perfect Doogh is why we'll be returning soon! ★★★★★ for keeping Persian culinary traditions alive with such passion and...
Read morePersians people are known for their world-class hospitality. Unfortunately, at this extremely busy Persian restaurant, this is not demonstrated by the quality of service that you receive. In fact I’d advise you to avoid this place at all costs if you expect any type of service when you go to a restaurant. There are better Persian restaurants in Greater Vancouver.
I have been here multiple times. Every single time, I’ve had sub-par service that is frankly unacceptable when compared to other restaurants in Vancouver. Sure, the food here is really cheap but to be honest, the quality is on par with the price. Last time I went to this restaurant, I ordered the Mirza Ghasemi appetizer which is traditionally served and had with bread. My Mirza Ghasemi arrived without bread. By the time fresh, hot bread arrived, my Mirza Ghasemi was already cold. Immediately afterwards, our food arrived and it looked like there had been a mistake that had been made with the type of rice that we ordered. Our server told us that we can have the white rice (that we didn’t want) and that we should take it home. We clearly told her that we did not want to take it home. However she bought an empty disposable container to our table and simply put it on our already crowded table (without offering to pack it for us). We did not bother as we were clearly not interested in taking it with us (we hadn’t even finished our food yet). As we were eating, she came by and asked if she could clear stuff off our table to make it less crowded. I told her that she can take away the white rice as we had originally asked. Instead of taking the rice away, she insisted one more time that we should take the rice home as we had already paid for it and that the kitchen was not going to take it back. After the third time, telling her that we weren’t interested in taking the white rice home, she told us to transfer the rice to another plate so that she could take it away.
If I wanted to do everything myself, I wouldn’t come to...
Read moreWe go to Persian restaurants regularly but we don't get to North Van too often. Decided to try this place after seeing reviews. Very nice staff upon entering. We ordered the Jujeh Kabob. The plate was very nice-a lot of rice, a whole well-grilled tomato, a pickled pepper, and the chicken. While the chicken meat was good quality and tender, I have to be honest and say it was not seasoned. Actually we both agreed there was no seasoning. It's not apparent in the picture, but other than the grill marks, there were no spices or colour from spices. From my experience in the restaurant industry my guess was that they ran out of prepared chicken. As well, the food took longer than normal to come out. After we arrived the restaurant filled to capacity, so they might have just been cooking as quickly as possible. I think covid could have been a strong factor with restaurants reducing staff and prepped food. I was interested in the Koofteh as I had never seen that before. We were surprised it was one large meatball. I could definitely see all the ingredients when I cut it open which was great. The best part of the meal was the barberry and plum filling-very tart and a nice balance to the dish. We bought some barberries on the way home as I will try to make that dish in the future. The menu said it came with pita and pickled vegetable. I did have to ask 3 times to 2 servers for both items (which made it obvious to me that they were then too busy, which furthered my suspicion about the chicken). From all the customers around us, and I read they are expanding, they must be doing something right. Lots of framed awards on the wall and 'Best Persian Cuisine 2020' from the Straight. I was introduced to a new Persian dish so I was happy about that.
Sorry, I incorrectly responded No to a question if Cazba delivers. The correct answer is Yes, they...
