Picked up a couple of bowls and a smoothie (using my Plant Curious book coupon). Service was friendly! Been loving their Shroomami bowl since visiting their Nelson Street location, and it didn't disappoint having it from their Lonsdale Quay location! Their sautéed mushrooms are packed with umami flavour. It also comes with a good amount of edamame! At the end, we could also add pickled onions, fried onions, and sesame seeds as toppings (highly recommend their pickled onions). For one of the bowls, we were able to substitute the spinach and kale for some quinoa, so did appreciate the customization! If we had one minor issue, it would be to ask for more sauce. The creamy sesame dressing could have been more plentiful to cover the various ingredients.
The Vanilla Matcha smoothie was alright. I was able to substitute the whey for vegan whey/protein, but it was definitely a prominent banana flavour when I was hoping for a stronger matcha one! It was very creamy. I'd probably like to try one of their more tropical smoothies in the future! Would recommend for their bowls! There is lots of seating inside and outside...
Read moreMy daughter and I use to come here often and it had been a few months so we were looking forward to the bowls. In the past we found them very tasty and filling! Today I was very surprised by the service as we stood there waiting to be served for a few mins while 2 employees were there not even acknowledging us. I finally had to ask one of them if they were open yet. Then he said yes and I said can I please order? Strange. Once we got our bowls we saw how little food in the bowl they were less than 3/4 full for the cost not worth it. In the past they would have been filled to top. When I asked why he said “ inflation I guess.” Not sure if he wasn’t trained well or if they changed their policy to save money. Either way it was disappointing. I usually don’t bother to write reviews for restaurants but I figured the owner of the place should receive some feedback before it happens to...
Read moreDecent place for healthy-ish food. Taste is good. However use of seed oils(especially peanut oil) is unacceptable when they market themselves as health food store. I know healthier oils like olive, avocado, coconut are more expensive, but customers are paying high prices and deserve good ingredients. Otherwise there wouldn't be much difference between them and something like Chipotle, other than the healthy marketing.
Service, ambience was exceptional, no complaints there. I would have given lower rating if not for this.
I am giving 4/5 only because they market as health food store and would upgrade to 5/5 if they use better oils.
EDIT: i asked in store after comment below and they said they used sunflower oil. Would be nice to have details of...
