Update July 25/25- Chop continues to be our go-to spot for all celebrations. It does not disappoint. Tonight we were served by Francis and he did an exceptional job- from the kids starter appetizer (not something we ordered), to bringing drink refills without us having to ask, and going above and beyond to ensure that our evening was special. We also enjoyed free steak bites (appetizer) that came as a gift from the restaurant following our last celebration. Thank you! Kudos to Monique (who has also served us before) who helped us out with a missing utensil. The food was delicious- avocado super bowl never disappoints and the side mac and cheese that my husband had with his steak and shrimp was divine. And then there's the community bread with the whipped brown butter (a must and only $4). I relayed our positive experience to the supervisor, Brad, who was also appreciative and did not want to be left out. So thank you to Brad for all of your efforts and in having an exceptional complement of staff who truly value the customers.
As an aside, the women's bathroom is something out of a magazine, incredibly clean and with two gas fireplaces. It is totally in keeping with the intimate ambiance of Chop.

‐------‐-‐-‐ Best hidden gem! All I can say is WOW! My family and I went on Sunday evening for the first time to celebrate a birthday. Our server was Greg and he was fantastic- very attentive, knowledgeable, engaging, and a great sense of humour! It might have been the Manager who brought us a plate of garlic crustini and a warm goat cheese because it was our first time attending the restaurant. I have never had this happen before and it was wonderful. The food was delicious and large portions. The avocado super bowl with chicken was so delicious (see photo) and even better the next day. My husband enjoyed his steak and shrimp and no complaints with the kids' meal selections. Make sure to order the $3 rye bread with whipped brown butter. The restaurant not only acknowledged the birthday with a dessert, but also with a signed card from all staff and coupon for a free appetizer. The cocktails were also delicious! Thank you Greg and staff for a wonderful dinner! We look forward to returning and reserving the 'Bird Cage'...

The General Manager, Tim, reached out to me and apologized. We had a very pleasant conversation and he informed me that he is carrying out educational and further training practices with his employees to ensure that all guests at this location have a memorable experience, regardless if their order was takeout or dine-in. I understand that the food service industry can be very stressful at times, but hopefully employees can refer to their resources and or ask for extra help when they are feeling overwhelmed because at the end of the day, they are responsible for providing “enlightened hospitality” (as per the Chop website). I am writing this review from my car as I have just left the Burloak location and I’m in so much shock that I needed to write it before I started driving. I placed an order on the phone and when I arrived to pickup the order a lady was at the front hostess stand, and her name was Renata. I patiently waited for her to be done, speaking with the person in front of me, and when the customer walked away, Renata just looked at me and did not greet or say hi, or ask how she could help me. The words that came out of her mouth were “What do you need?”. So shocked by the rude and unpleasant way that I was greeted, I replied “I have an order to pickup.” She asked my name and walked away.
Wow. Please tell me this woman is not anything close to Management at Chop because the way that she spoke to me did nothing positive for the Chop brand. I am so disappointed in...
