I’m surprised that this Sunrise location is still going. When they just opened we were excited for it being so close to Burlington and Oakville. On my very first visit the customer service was on point and the food was good. This was just before the pandemic. I went there once after that during the pandemic, and the man working that evening was very very rude. I left and promised I would never return or recommend to anyone. Years later now, I was in the area shopping and against my better judgment I decided(after more than 2 years) to give it another go. If I must say, they don’t even seem like they would read these reviews to do better, nor even care. The girl serving look like she was ready to go lay on some boxes in the back. She didn’t speak to the customers properly (myself and another who came in after me). The way she responded to me, I had to keep saying “I’m just asking.” From the moment I stepped in the door she had a very bad disposition and here interaction was comparable to being in an encounter with a wolf, not knowing when it’s going to pounce on you. She served my food and because I asked a question about food size, she took a piece of the chicken back from my container and mumbled something. Then when I asked about a ‘side dish’ she gave a negative attitude and response. Maybe she has been there all day, but lady that attitude drives people away. NOW FOR THE FOOD: Where do I start. The rice was soggy and too salted. Rice mustn’t have that much taste of salt. The fried chicken too salty, crusty, unflavoured and taste like it was sitting in oil for hours. When I was done stripping down that chicken, half went into the garbage. The grease on my lips could have moisturized both my arms. I was disappointed that I paid $13 for that garbage that mostly ended up in the garbage. That is why you mustn’t go to these places when you are extra hungry. I got home and started finding remedies to get it out my mouth and system. If they are still there by the end of 2024, it would be because they have new management, staff and chef. You can’t keep taking people’s money in this economy and serve this horror. I didn’t even bother taking pictures as my experience was...

So it took me a minute to write this review as I have been so busy working, so recently July 2022 I went shopping and ended up in Oakville,I went to the guess store and then observed a Sunrise restaurant in the same plaza so I said let me go to this Sunrise and taste there Jerk chicken eh, well as we entered this polite lady was cleaning the tables and mopping the floors she said they were closed, i was a tad bit disappointed but then i asked for my baby girl to use the washroom she said okay then the chef, i presume came out of the Kitchen, i then said to him in my disappointed Trini voice, man you aint even have some jerk chicken left back man, he said with a voice like an angel i can do that for you, he went back into the kitchen and then came out with a box of chicken and can i just say it is the best jerk chicken i have eaten since my girlfriend birthday party about 5 yrs ago and a jerk chicken i ate at Wilcox 3 yrs ago , eh let me just say i had given up on Caribbean restaurants here in Canada but this Sunrise won me back not only because the chicken was good but the extra mile service was AMAZING and to even add more this chef guy refused to take my cash, i know i am blessesd but there is still hope in this world with the little kind deeds like this that ppl do, so i just wanted to give this Caribbean restaurant a Tremendous thumbs up 👍 and thanks for a wonderful experience i would...
Read moreVery Disrespectful and Unprofessional Service
My recent visit to Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant was extremely disappointing due to the rude and distasteful behavior of one of the staff members. We ordered two jerk chicken meals and asked for coleslaw. The young lady told us it was an extra cost, which was fine — we simply responded with “Oh okay, never heard that before but it’s fine, we’ll take the steamed veggies instead.”
From there, her attitude completely changed. She became vulgar and disrespectful, making unnecessary comments like, “It have cabbage, carrot, mayonnaise,” and even went as far as to say, “Every time Jamaicans go to restaurant, they want freeness.”
That kind of generalization was extremely offensive and uncalled for. As paying customers, we expected basic respect, not judgment and attitude. Her behavior was totally unprofessional and left a bad taste — more than the food ever could. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values respectful...
