One of my friends always bugged me to go to this Roti place, ended up going to Rani's Roti off Kerr St, called the friend he said no...not that one but the one off Speers Rd. Walked out, drove to Kori's Roti on Speers Rd. Told the cashier that this is my very first visit in last 13 years living in Oakville and ordered 2 chicken takeout. I ordered one with spice level "Deadly" and the other "Mild" for my daughter. First of all it took longer than required and I waited about 20 mins before I got my order. Arrived home, daughter was ready with her plates- starving :) Opened the paper bag, first thing I saw was, No napkins, and No cutlery, didn't care much as I was home anyways. Then to my surprise no sticker on either of the orders identifying them Deadly or Mild. Called the restaurant and spoke with a male operator who first did not apologize, then said he won't exchange it but if we bring it back they will mark it for us. I told if it got too cold I would like them to make new one for me. Drove all the way back, stood in the line up again, gave the paper bag back to the female cashier at front, who again, Did not apologize, took the bag inside and brought back after few minutes and said now they are marked. Again, not a single word about them being sorry for the inconvenience. Not sure if they just repacked the same food but can't confirm. Went back home and tried the food, not so great, in fact both Deadly and Mild tasted as Deadly so my daughter did not eat at all. I tried both and both appeared Deadly spice wise. Higher spice level is fine with me (I am at suicidal spice level wise) but order was definitely mixed up and worst of all no apologies from the owners/operators. That was the customer service part, now about the food, I found the Chicken Roti to be very BLAND, no taste other than pepper, not even the curry taste. Liked the roti part as the flat bread was good but the filling was totally bland. It could have had more taste spectrum to it. Therefore it may be OK for local business people working off Speers road area as a grab and go food but I would not recommend it for a family lunch or dinner. There are many places where for same money (almost $20 for two) you can have spectacular food nicer to your taste buds and moreover better customer service. The cashier at front was in fact appeared very friendly but somehow missed the part that they are even sorry about the inconvenience caused, and that made me write this review especially her knowing it was my very first visit to this restaurant. I may try it for one more different dish for the sake of experience before deciding not to go back ever again. Wait for my next food...
Read moreWow! Where to start? So I’ll be honest in saying I haven’t experienced the full menu but I stumbled on this place by accident and I’m glad that I did. I was looking for some beef patties one afternoon on speers rd and then I found Kori’s Roti. Let me start by saying everything is evidently very clean in the store. Even while I was fumbling to pay using the pay pad, the owner cleaned the debit pad between each attempt (very pleased with the attention to detail on her part). Their customer service is friendly, effective and very accommodating and for me this is something that keeps me returning. But hey maybe you, a consumer, don’t care about good customer service skill and have one priority, excellent cuisine. Well I hate to break it to you but checkmate, they’ve got you covered there too! The moment you walk in you’ll get a sneak preview of the joy you are about to experience from the wonderful smell of curry that fills the room. Some things to note, when they say hot they mean hot, but also very flavorful in all the right ways, if this is a concern for you start low. I’ve really enjoyed the vegetables and rice. All the ingredients are evidently very fresh and of a high quality. Also it’s not fast food but they do an excellent job serving you top quality take out in a quick and efficient manner. They even has buzzers (cleaned each and every use) so you could wait in your car and they call you when it’s ready. My one and only complaint is that they do have somewhat limited hours, there’s just been a few times outside of business hours that I’ve been jonesing for some Kori’s Roti....
Read moreMy wife and I have been buying rotis here since 2001 when we first discovered it after returning to SW Ontario. Back then Kori ran the place and the rotis tasted just like the rotis I used to buy in Port-of-Spain, and eat by the Savanah. I can't even begin to tell you how good they were back then. Today is a different story. Kori is no longer involved (I have not seen here there in years) and the rotis are still good, but nowhere near what they used to be. Today I had a goat roti and asked for medium, I was disappointed to see a reddish line from where they just poured in some hot sauce/pepper as an afterthought. Still, they are better than many other people's rotis. We now have a roti place in Hamilton run by a Trini guy and his wife which is more like the way Kori used to make it back in the day. If you live in Oakville/Burlington then Kori's Roti Stop should still be your first choice. If you live in TO or the Hammer, there are probably better options. One big plus, is their goat rotis are boneless, a great feature that lazier cooks don't offer. I recommend Kori's for their service and...
