During my recent visit to Odoo, I was met with a mixed experience. The ambiance of the place was pleasant, and the staff, particularly the two girls working that day, were friendly and welcoming. However, the quality of the beverages left much to be desired.
I ordered a cappuccino and a latte, both of which unfortunately did not meet my expectations. The milk in both drinks was not steamed properly; it seemed more like it was simply warmed rather than achieving the creamy texture that should accompany a well-made cappuccino or latte. Additionally, the coffee itself lacked the rich, robust flavor that one would expect. It felt as though the beans used were not of good quality or at least not handled to bring out their best flavors.
For reference, here’s a brief guide to making a professional cappuccino and latte:
Cappuccino: Start with a high-quality espresso shot (about 1/3 of the cup). Steam the milk until it’s velvety and creates a microfoam (foam should be fine and dense). The milk should be steamed to around 150-155°F (65-68°C), and it generally takes about 30-45 seconds to achieve the perfect consistency. Pour the steamed milk into the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon. Finally, add the foam on top of the cappuccino.
Latte: Begin with a high-quality espresso shot (about 1/4 of the cup). Steam the milk until it’s creamy but not too frothy. The milk should be steamed to around 150-155°F (65-68°C), and it should take about 20-30 seconds to get the right texture for a latte. Pour the steamed milk into the espresso, creating a smooth blend.
Another important point to mention is the space management within the coffee shop. When we visited, the seating area was full, making it difficult to find a place to sit. I noticed that almost 40% of the total space in the front side of the coffee shop was taken up by the counter. This is a significant issue because when you have a large counter, it means that staff may not have the machines and tools close by, which can slow down order preparation. Reducing the size of the counter area would allow for more tables and chairs, providing more seating for customers and improving the overall experience.
While the service was commendable, improving the quality of the coffee, the milk steaming process, and the space utilization would significantly enhance the overall experience at Odoo. I hope they take this feedback constructively and strive to provide a better coffee experience in the future.
Thank you, Odoo team, for your friendly service and efforts to create a welcoming atmosphere. I look forward to seeing improvements on my next visit.
I will give 5 stars for encouragement and support....
Read moreNOTE: I seriously never leave negative reviews. Understand that this is merely an account of my experience & I have no ill intent behind this post.
I recently visited this place and unfortunately had an extremely unsettling experience that compelled me to share my thoughts. First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge that Odoo has received a number of great reviews, which made me eager to visit. However, my personal experience was quite different, and I feel the need to address the aspects that left me deeply disappointed. Upon entering the cafe, I immediately noticed a lack of a visible menu, prompting me to ask the staff for assistance. Regrettably, the response I received was condescending, as I was pointed towards a QR code by the register. While I understand the growing prevalence of digital menus, it would have been more welcoming to have someone kindly inform me about the QR code without the dismissive tone.
I proceeded to place my order. The delivery of my order was accompanied by complete silence from the server, and although I expressed gratitude, it went unnoticed. While this may seem like a minor detail, it contributed to the overall sense of unwelcoming atmosphere that I experienced during my visit.
What disturbed me the most was the behaviour of three male servers stationed behind the till. Throughout my time at the cafe, they consistently stared at me whenever I glanced in their direction, accompanied by whispered conversations I could not decipher. I found this to be highly uncomfortable, especially since it seemed to be directed solely at me, as other customers were not subject to the same treatment. As a customer, it is crucial for me to feel safe and respected in any establishment I choose to visit. Unfortunately, the behaviour of the servers at this place left me feeling distinctly unwelcome and uneasy. I believe that all customers, regardless of their background or appearance, should be treated with equal respect and courtesy. Perhaps it was an unfortunate anomaly or a misunderstanding, but I believe it is crucial to provide an honest account of my visit. I genuinely wanted to enjoy my time at this place and had high expectations based on the reputation it had garnered.
I truly hope that my experience was an isolated incident and that future visitors will not have to face...
Read moreI've ordered pretty much every day from here for the past 2 months, so obviously, I love it. If you think that sounds insane (it is!), then read on!
Earlier this year, my mom fell ill and I had to move back home. Her tastes have been getting pickier over the past few months, and she has a sweet tooth, so one day I decided to order something from this café on recommendation from a friend: one of the crepes (I think it was the Kit Kat one?) and a London Fog. The London Fog is key because I've gotten one every single order without fail. :)
She loved it, and so I continued to order. I think I've tried around half the things on the menu at this point, but my (and her) favourites are anything that's dipped in chocolate, and of course, the London Fog for me. I guarantee no matter what you order from this menu, it'll be amazing.
I can't vouch for dine-in, since I've only ever ordered delivery, but I'm sure it's even better! There have been a handful of times my order has gotten messed up (namely, a few times where items were missing) but those were few and far in between.
I'm moving next week, and the thing I (and my mom) are most sad about is that I won't be able to order from this café anymore! That should tell you how...
