Buffet Garden — Restaurant in Ontario

I called to order Chinese takeout on July the 4th 2024. I was unaware of what some of the items on the menu were, so I asked the individual on the phone to explain what chicken low mien meant. This did not mean I wanted to order it, I just wanted an explanation. On the phone he asked me if I wanted it and kept asking me for more items I said no can you explain it please. The entire phone call was only 2.5 minutes long. I proceeded to start ordering and I had one more question about a dish, where the person on the other side proceeded to say “ Oh my god idiot” under his breath and a harsh annoyed tone. I was thinking to myself you’re on the phone so I hear you, so I called him out on it and said “oh my god what?”. He says, “ohh sorry sorry idiot”. I proceeded to say, “you’re not sorry, you were saying oh my god because I asked you to explain something and you’re impatient and didn’t want to, and that was rude to do over the phone.” He then tried to tell me it was because they were busy, and that he was the only one there. I told him that this was not my fault, and that from my experience of going into the restaurant there’s usually more than one person working in the Chinese buffet. I explained that as a paying customer I shouldn’t have to put up with this rudeness and where you want my business over the phone instead of being rude. So I told him I he should be happy he even has my business, but I Instead of an apology I was granted with an “ok that’s all you want, followed by the price of the meal”. I told him I am going to tell others about this experience because they were very, very rude on the phone. I am a teacher has traveled to China to teach from 2015-2018, I have a heart for people with exceptionalities, differences, everything and this person made me feel like I was the smallest most insignificant person on this planet. I am not one to write reviews but never in my life have I encountered such a demeaning person.

I told my delivery driver about this experience when my food was delivered. The driver proceeded to tell me that the same individual laughs at them in the restaurant. What kind of a business owner laughs at the drivers and their customers. I asked this person if it was busy, and if he was the only if he was the only one working, they said it was not busy and there was a ton of people working that night. So whoever you are at China Buffet, You’re rude, inconsiderate, ignorant, selfish and you know who I am because I called you out on the phone. When we came in nobody greeted us , no good day nor hi nor hello or whatsoever . The guy that seated us didn’t give us enough utensils which in some other buffet places they would give us plates and utensils for each guest. The guy asked us if we wanted any drinks, we asked for water and this guy getting the water KEEPS ON RUNNING HIS HANDS THROUGH HIS HAIR AND KEEPS ON TOUCHING HIS MOUSTACHE WHILE PREPARING OUR DRINKS!!! So disgusting!! And while we were eating , this the same guy was SORTING NEW UTENSILS WITHOUT GLOVES ON!!!!AND HE WAS DOING THE SAME THING TOUCHING HIS NOSE, HAIR AND MOUSTACHE IN BETWEEN SORTING THE SPOON AND FORKS!!!!!! OMGGG SO DISGUSTING!!!!

The food was below okay, half of them aren’t fresh and really dry especially the sushi you could tell its old . The desserts were stale as well! And not many options, they even had stale oreos?!?! Really?!?! Unbelievable i couldve just bought it myself!!even the bow tie biscuits are not crunchy or flaky anymore and the cakes , the edges was kinda chewy or hardened already because it was sitting for so long!!! The potato salad and the coleslaw were both watery indicating that it is not as fresh as it should be!! Sliced bananas was swimming in bluish like water! Very disappointing!!!

We came in at 415pm and around 445pm this lady server just all of the sudden put on our table the receipt and the fortune cookies!!! It was like telling us that we are done and we should go! It felt like we were rushed out!! Unbelievable!! And mind you we were still eating and we have foods on our plates still!! Even when they are taking our plates away , they dont even wait for you to tell them that youre done they just take it away with the last bite on your fork to your mouth!how disrespectful! And this is the first time in all the buffets that weve been to that they give you the bill even youre not done yet and even if you didn’t ask for it yet!! This people workng here dont have any proper training!!

Called in a pickup order. Got to the restaurant to pick up my order . Very nice Chinese (this will be important later) lady asks if I am picking up. I said yes, I called in . Told her what my order was and paid. It wasn't ready yet, but no big deal. Went out to sit in my car to wait. Came back in and same lady gave me order and off I went. I live an hour from the restaurant so headed towards home. Got 35 mins away and a man calls me and says "are you picking up your order or not?!" I told him I already had and he barks "Chinese woman or Indian woman! " A little startled I told him it was the Chinese woman. He proceeded to ask me to hold on then I could hear him speaking very sharply to the Chinese woman (she replied back equally sharp) . He came back and said "that's fine" and hung up abruptly.

I arrived home and opened our egg rolls. They were almost burnt on the edges. Still tasted ok but ugh.. The other items , chicken balls, chicken chow mein and chicken fried rice were all good. Ff to the battered shrimp.. SO disappointed! All over cooked so the batter was almost dark brown on some. While others were dark on one side with undercooked areas on other areas of the same shrimp.
