TLDR: Great food, breezy patio, and a nice healthy restaurant addition to Cornwall. Recieved lackluster dine-in service after a positive take out experience a few weeks prior.

A friend was visiting from out of town, so I figured this was an ideal option for a lunch date as we both enjoy veg/vegan food. I'd been once previously for some takeout dessert and kombucha, both of which were really good so I was looking forward to a sit down lunch on the patio.

I'm docking a star based on the service we recieved today. Our server's attitude ranged from neutral to bordering on rude. When talking our order, we both felt a bit rushed and she cut my friend off before she had finished stating her order. As a result, when our food arrived at the table there was a mix up as I recieved the right sandwich and the wrong side. I suspect the server possibly punched the order in wrong and switched the side orders my friend and I had ordered since she didn't seem interested in listening to what we were saying.

The person who brought our food out (the owner, I think?) was apologetic and friendly about the mix up. My guest and I were fine with swapping our food around so that we could enjoy what we had respectively ordered, no big deal really. Our server never returned for a quality check on our food, only to ask us if we wanted take out boxes after some time had passed. Neither of us were done eating, and there were numerous open tables, so we didn't feel in a rush but suddenly felt like perhaps we'd overstayed our welcome. I was going to order some dessert, but given the lackluster service at this point we were ready to get going.

We had a bit of a difficult time waiving down our server for our bill. When the bill came, I was surprised to see an extra upcharge for the side of salad that had accompanied my wrap. When I had ordered, I didn't see anything on the menu indicating salad was at an upcharge (the potatoes were listed as such), and our server didn't mention it when informing me of options of sides so my assumption was that it was inclusive of the menu price. It wasn't a huge charge, but I found this to be a bit deceiving. Perhaps our server was having an off day, but overall we left feeling like we were the forgotten table throughout our...

We came here for 2pm vegan/vegetarian lunch after we saw good reviews.

Parking on the street is not free; we were at Cornwall Square before hand and just left our car parked there for free as it's a very short walk from there.

The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and clean; the bathroom needs better attention though. At first glance the bathroom is nicely decorated and clean however there are layers of dust on the pictures inside.

The patio is pet friendly and is used in the winter as we were told.

The house tomatoe soup was delicious; well seasoned and had some sweetness to it.

The roasted beet salad with goat cheese was excellent and something we would definitely order again.

The Falafel wrap was good but needed more seasoning as it was very plain. The falafel themselves are also made in house, were moist but again needed more seasoning as they were almost tasteless. I probably won't order this again unless the recipe changes to include more seasoning or even a flavourful sauce such as garlic tahini sauce to provide more flavour.

The Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower wrap was excellent! It was well seasoned and had a good heat on the sauce.

Our server was very attentive and friendly; we were the only people inside at the time. They have a cooler area at the front where they have amazing looking baked goods. Everything is made on site, not made by someone else and brought in so that is a huge selling point. They also had various local items for sale near the front counter.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant and return to try...

We recently had our first visit to Carrots and Dates, and it was fantastic! The food was not only delicious but also healthy. We tried the gluten-free Thai peanut curry, a Buddha bowl, quesadillas, and pad Thai. Every dish was packed with flavor and super fresh, really highlighting their dedication to healthy eating. The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome right from the start. We chose to sit out on the patio, which was wonderfully relaxing. The decor, with its flowers and positive message signs, gave off some serious hipster vibes that we loved.Inside, they have a great selection of gluten-free baked goods and premade healthy meals to take out. Plus, there was art for sale by local artists, which adds a nice community feel to the place. Overall, Carrots and Dates is a real gem in Cornwall. If you're looking for delicious, healthy food in a laid-back and welcoming setting, this is the spot. We can't wait to go back and try more...

We came to Carrots and Dates in April 2025 and had a pretty good experience. The service here was fantastic as well the atmosphere. It was a bit of a pain finding parking, which I guess is just a knock at the location. For the food, my wife had a wrap and home fries, my son opted for the guacamole and chips and I went with a guac grilled cheese with beet and goat cheese salad. My wife loved hers. I tried my son's guac which was the same as my grilled cheese guac, and it was too garlicky. I'm more of a line/cilantro and avocado guac lover, so the taste of it caught me off guard. The guac in the grilled cheese seemed odd. It was edible but it wasn't what I thought it would be. I feel like this sandwich would be much better with like a sundried tomato pesto + cheese instead of the guacamole. Just my opinion though. Anyways, still a great restaurant. 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
