Really, really good. This place, as mentioned, is just a walk up window. There werent any tables or chairs around, but we didn’t mind eating in our car. I hope one day they’re able to open a place where people can sit down inside and enjoy their food. I got the pastor gringa which was very good, not spicy but very flavourful with nice warm spices, however, I think they forgot the pineapple pico that went with it, it was still awesome, and huge. I couldn’t finish it! Good bang for your buck. The chips and pico were also fantastic but I thought the pico could use a bit more salt. I like spice so I added the jalapeños to it but it’s nice for people who don’t like spice, so that they can eat it too. My friend got the plate with 4 tacos and she loved it as well. Service was great and very friendly. Took a little while to get our food but there were a lot of people there, so I understood why. I will definitely be back to try more!

In a town rife with average chain Tex-Mex restaurants, El Gringo provides a much needed authentic taco experience. The very definition of a hole in the wall, this is purely a take out establishment. I've only been once and they seemed to have issues at opening; I was the first to order for the day and it took 30 minutes for me to get simply two taco orders. Nevertheless, the food was well worth the wait and I very much look forward to going back. EDIT: Been three times now and the service time was no better. Sure, it was the weekend and I wasn't in a rush. However, a 40 minute wait for two taco orders is a bit too much. Not sure why a place that bills itself as an "authentic street style taqueria" has dine-in restaurant wait times.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ El Gringos is such a hidden gem in Kingston! 🌮 It’s a cute little walk-up window (you actually knock to order!) and with Mexican music playing, the atmosphere feels fun, welcoming, and authentic. The birria tacos are absolutely to die for—juicy, flavourful, and packed with goodness. The fish tacos are just as incredible, light and fresh with the perfect crunch. And the drinks? The pineapple juice with a Tajín rim topper is pure perfection. Chef’s kiss! 🍍✨ Kind service, authentic flavours, and a unique vibe—El Gringos is a must-try in Kingston.

My girlfriend and I heard great things about this little taqueria, and as authentic Mexican is my favourite food in the whole world, we had to check it out.

Let me tell you, this place sells legit the best tacos I’ve had in Canada and rivals those I’ve had in Mexico. It’s hard to find authentic Mexican outside of major cities up here in the North and I’m beyond stoked on what Rex & his team are doing here.

The takeout window reminds me of street food that you’d find all over the world. Tucked away in an unassuming alley, roll up and give a knock for some next level tac. No tables or chairs, so you’re either sitting on a rock or standing with your food. It doesn’t matter though. You won’t be thinking about any of that when you take your first bite.

The food is incredible and the prices are great. We shared 4 tacos initially. Then knocked again for another 4. Andddd knocked one more time for a final 2. I’m telling you, once you start, you can’t stop.

Rex was super friendly and gave us the lowdown on the whole menu. He went above and beyond and made our first experience top notch.

Don’t let the alleyway throw you off. I can’t recommend this place enough. 11/10
