I will not be returning to Pan Chancho again. I have little to nothing bad to say about the food, it was good, perfectly serviceable. 2 times I have been into Pan Chancho and 3 times I have been bodily shoved, grabbed, and manhandled by rude customers... I went during COVID!
The workers are doing their best behind counters and shield glass and even stepping forward to meet people. But customers where not directed, they were not social distancing, and as mentioned above even GRABBING ME!
An elderly person grabbed my arm in order to make me step aside and social distance so that they could get my spot in line. As I was reading the cheeses I had another customer shove past me sending me forward into the cheese rack. Than that rude customer had the audacity to glare at me, and not even apologize.
I left the place with my food, my heart pounding in my chest, there was no social distancing and the bodily shoving and grabbing had me panicked by the time I left. The lunch was not worth the wholly unpleasant experience of being in their store. I recommend going somewhere else for your lunch, their food is not worth being shoved out of the way for.
Also if you go there and and you push, shove, and grab people... reflect on yourself, and how your actions effect other people. Are you really being the kind of neighbor that Mister Rogers thought you could be? We are getting through this Pandemic together and your actions are not helping anyone out but yourself.
TLDR; I was shoved, grabbed, and pushed by customers, there is little to no social distancing between customers for COVID, and I will not be returning. The staff is apathetic to this happening around...

Nice location in heart of downtown Kingston, and a nice presentation of space. You enter into their sales area which is bursting to the seams with baked goods and deli meats. Past that to a brightly lit seating area, and on to the outdoor patio. I found the patio a bit crowded and stifling in the July heat, but pleasant enough for what it is.
I ordered the El Chancho, described thus: "$16.50 - bacon, chorizo, peameal bacon, two over easy eggs, roasted corn salad, crispy red potatoes chili sauce, grilled savoury brioche and bacon jam".
The bacon and peameal bacon were what I expected, neither exceptional nor disappointing; the chorizo was superb - in fact, the best chorizo I have ever had in my life, a ham-based sausage with a nice taste of red wine and smoke.
Eggs average, corn salad pleasant. The crispy potatoes were very crispy and quite nice, and went well with the chili sauce, which was almost like a sweet-savoury chili salsa.
I had high hopes for the bacon jam and brioche, but was quite disappointed. The brioche was dry, and had herbs that I felt didn't pair well with the flavour of the bacon jam. The jam was thick and pasty, and didn't seem to have much character, being neither particularly sweet nor salty. It reminded me of a slightly pastier Chinese dry shredded pork.
All in all, not much to interest me. I'd certainly purchase items from the deli, particularly the chorizo, but the meal I had made me think that this was one more pretty, overpriced...
Read moreI was staying with my boyfriend at my Aunt's cottage on Wolfe Island for a couple days when she decided to take us here for some cottage groceries before she left us on our own which turned out to be such a treat! This bakery has a large variety of groceries convenient and tasty to anyone's tastes.
We started by getting one of their fresh olive loaves though they had a wide selection including your typical types to sweet breads and unique savory breads. From there we grabbed some pate and a delicious maple white cheddar cheese that I snacked on and included in my sandwiches. We also took home one of their containers of sliced dark salami that I still crave back home in Miami! They had some prepared foods that looked tasty (like potato salad) but since I love to cook decided not to get. I did decide to get some of their smoked salmon that served me well for a tasty breakfast and they even gave me ice so that it would travel well. Lastly, we took a look into their dessert areas and ended up taking home a chocolate pecan pie, peanut butter chocolate tart, and lemon cream puffs-----the sweets were phenomenal! We left each with their extremely refreshing home made lemonade in hand, satisfied with our purchase.
I would highly recommend popping your head in for a quick refreshment or bite to eat! Or if you're looking for quality things to take home and eat---its a...
