MAMA’S KITCHEN — Restaurant in Ontario

It pains me to write this review because I wanted to like this place so badly, but it was just awful. It looks really cute on the inside, but looks are deceiving.

Here was our order: • grilled cheese + homefries • toast, eggs, bacon + homefries • toast, eggs, sausage + homefries

I knew we were off to a bad start while placing our order when I asked the waitress what kind of soda they had and she didn't really know. She told me I could see the options on page two of the menu, but it just said "soft drink" without flavours listed. I gave up and just asked for orange.

It took 35 minutes for our food to arrive. It was fairly busy, but nowhere near busy enough to have that significant of a delay for some eggs and toast.

Though I had asked for grilled cheese, what was served to me was a single slice of processed cheese on toast. With no butter. I don't understand how you can mess up making grilled cheese like that - it literally tells you how to make it in the name. Grilled. Not a toasted cheese. The homefries were also awful. They looked amazing, but they were as hard as bullets. It seemed like they didn't boil the potatoes before they fried them.

The waitress never came to check on our table after the food was served. I tried really hard to catch her eye without being rude or obnoxious. Had she come to check on us, I could have potentially asked for something else or salvaged the meal in some way. The people I was with had already finished their meals by the time she reappeared. When I mentioned the quality of the food she made no attempt to make it right - no apologies, no questions about what else they could make. She just took it away without a word.

I really wanted to like this place, but I was just so thoroughly disappointed on all fronts. Well, the inside was cute....

Absolutely love this place. I just moved to town August 2019, my friends from Seattle visited me in September 2019 and they wanted to check out some local breakfast places. My friend found this diner and saw that it was open until 3pm, so we went to check it out. However, we arrived 10 mins before they closed, the owner was great. She did not refuse to take our order, we let apologizing for showing up so late. She was so kind and she that it was okay because they had a lot of things to catch up on. We tried to finish our meals as fast as we can, so that we did not hold them up any longer.

OVERALL, I highly recommend this diner. They have affordable prices, great service and food. Since September 2019, my hubby and I visit this diner every weekend. Even with this pandemic, we try to order out at least...

Very pleasantly surprised when I went here for breakfast. The food in my opinion was excellent. Main Points:

They give you mushroom soup before your meal which I thought was quirky but really cool and I love mushroom soup.

The combos come with toast and also a waffle and or pancake. You don't have to choose and my pancake was full size, came with bananas, chocolate chips, and chocolate sauce on top. It was excellent.

The only negative thing I really have to say is that they charge extra for real maple syrup which I think should honestly just be the standard. Charge a bit more if you have too but honestly standard table syrup sucks and maple should just be included. If you have to charge a fee I fell $2 is too...
