Marble Slab has long been a family favorite for ice cream cakes. The quality and taste are undeniably superior to other options in town, justifying the slightly higher price point. When it comes to the product itself, it's a family favorite. The custom cakes, with their rich flavors and personalized touches, are a guaranteed hit for any celebration. However, my recent experience highlighted a significant procedural flaw that left a sour taste. Marble Slab's policy of requiring a 48-hour notice for custom cake orders is perfectly reasonable. In fact, I went above and beyond, placing my order three days in advance and paying online, selecting a 1:00 PM pickup time â two hours after opening and well before my event. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at 12:45 PM to find the store closed, despite the posted hours. After confirming the hours and leaving a voicemail, I finally reached someone at 1:10 PM. I was then asked to return at 2:00 PM, a logistical nightmare given my 40-minute drive into the city. I managed to return by 1:35 PM, only to discover that my custom cake, complete with a birthday message, was not only unfinished but also unfrozen. While the staff was undeniably friendly and apologetic, the situation was frustrating. The issue isn't that mistakes happen; it's the lack of proactive communication. A simple phone call the night before, informing me that the cake wouldn't be ready on time, would have saved me a significant amount of time and stress. The irony lies in the fact that while Marble Slab emphasizes adherence to procedures (like the 48-hour notice), they failed to follow through on their end. The communication regarding order status was severely lacking. There needs to be a better system in place to notify customers of any delays or issues, especially for custom orders. In essence, Marble Slab offers an exceptional product, but the procedural execution and communication need substantial improvement. It's a classic case of delicious ice cream overshadowed by a logistical meltdown. If they can address these communication gaps, Marble Slab would truly be an unbeatable...

TL;DR: Horrible taste, even worse price point
I went here the other day hoping to get some good ice cream, because Iâve heard the brand name before and there were no other ice cream places open nearby.
Prices were not clearly listed inside the store, and I wasnât given any references for how big each size I could order would be. I asked questions but did not receive any helpful answers. I decided to be safe and ordered the small, which was then squeezed into pudding consistency inside a cup. Very visually unappealing. Then I saw that the price for my remarkably tiny cup of ice cream was $8.58. Thatâs got to be the worst value Iâve ever seen for a small ice cream scoop in Kingston. White Mountain does single scoops in cups for only ~$5.93 after tax, and youâll get actually good tasting ice cream (and bigger scoops). You could get full tubs of good tasting ice cream for less than that at Metro or probably even Circle K next door. The price maybe could be justified if the ice cream was out of this world, but it was definitely the worst tasting scoop of ice cream Iâve had in years. It tasted like chalky mush with tiny sharp chocolate chips (the worst kind). I literally just felt my money leave my pocket and sick as I was eating it.
The employees did not seem to know what they were doing, which is not the employeesâ fault, itâs managementâs fault for training them poorly. Train your employees better and for longer before you rush to open your business.
Do not listen to these 5-star reviews, if you read any of them with a critical eye you realize theyâre all saying the same information fed to them by management. Nobody writes reviews like that about an ice cream place. That should be reason enough not to go here. Scummy behaviour. Donât lie to...
Read moreLoved marble slab when the previous owner had the other two stores in town and were super sad when they closed! When this place opened me and my wife were happy cause we missed it. Finally got a chance last night to try it. Love that the store is open late and service was friendly but the best part, the ice cream was such a let down!
Cost me 23$ for a regular cone and bowl. The price was definitely a shock. Then the ice cream itself. The cookie dough doesnât taste right. The choice of mixing has definitely shrunk in half. The ice cream is suppose to be soft but closer to the harder side. Ours wasn't at all. it was like having a soft serve cone. You had to race against the clock to eat it to not make a mess and my cone was leaking out the bottom! I had to have a handful of napkins to absorb all the ice cream coming out.
We were very disappointed in the end. Might come back in the future for a change and give it another shot but for now we will be sticking with white...
