Mavericks — Restaurant in Ontario

First and foremost, this review is intended for the owner and management of Mavericks to take action. This is not directed at the staff that take direction from them. Now for my review. I had made a reservation for 2 and showed up on time yesterday (Aug 4). Was guided to my table promptly. This was the only good part of my experience here. What followed was waiting and waiting and more waiting. First, for someone to provide a menu, then for the water we asked for, then for the drinks, then for someone to take our order. We ordered 2 pizzas and sweet potatoe fries (they had ran out of regular fries apparently). 1 hour and 30 min later we simply gave up with listening to the garbage excuses. No discount of any kind was offered for the inconvenience. We paid for our drinks and left.

To the owner and Manager that ran the place yesterday - What is the point of calling ahead to make a reservation if no one can wait the tables promptly? I got the excuse that we are extremely busy because it was the long weekend. Here's a thought, since you plan/hope to make lots of money on the long weekend due to the countless tourists driving into town, why don't you prepare and staff accordingly!!!!

Wiping down a table with a wet dish rag is not sanitary. I noticed, so did other patrons sitting around me. No disinfectant spray was used. Please Equip and retrain yourself and your staff on restaurant best practices.

Hire more kitchen staff NOW! You already know they can cook well based on the other reviews of the food. They just need to do it faster and need help to do so. So get them the help they need.

We were celebrating our anniversary weekend and came to the 1000 islands. Mavericks was very inviting on the outside. Inside it looks like they just did renovations or moved in. Very basic for decor. Which is not a big deal. We were greeted by bartender and said we could seat ourselves. The server came fairly quickly took our drink order which came fairly quick. Then she took our food order. We waited 33 minutes for food to arrive. The table that came in after us recieved there food 10 min earlier then we did. When food came, I was not impressed. Husband got the curry chicken. I ordered the chicken parm entre. My husband said his was ok. Mine on the other hand was something to be desired. The chicken parm was over cooked and extremely dry. The pasta was also over cooked to the point it was mushy, the sauce tasted like it came from the can directly to the plate. No spices added very bland. I sent it back. Server didn't even come back to check on us until my husband finished eating. She made excuses that the kitchen is very busy because there is live music in the back room. Honestly don't care. Food should be edible and service should be much better. Server did not charge for my meal. Honestly don't waste your time and energy coming here. We were very disappointed. Went here with my family as it’s highly recommended by a lot of folks in gan and has high ratings. After trying it today I don’t understand why anyone goes here unless you’re drinking. They clearly cater to the bar crowd which is full but leave the food as a second thought. The foods clearly all frozen with no pride or thought going into it. The kids chicken fingers are super thin and barely any meat. Clearly from a bag and just thrown together. I had the burger and poutine. Burger was edible but the main toppings are onions and pickles. Could easily do with half the amount at-least. The poutine where do I start. The fries were super flimsy instead of crispy, one drop of gravy on-top so most of it has no gravy at all and the cheese curd is clearly frozen and left to thaw all day and used when needed. The chicken park is spicy as hell and super thin fried to hell. Hard to cut let alone eat. I don’t understand anyone who goes here unless you’re just going to the bar to drink.
