We went for an early dinner on a Monday evening. There were only 2 other tables occupied when we arrived.
The server provided the 4 of us with corn chips and salsa. My husband did a safety check on the salsa for me before requesting some mild salsa. (I really can’t handle spicy food 🥵. Sadly the mild salsa was also too hot for me, but I enjoyed munching on the corn chips all the same.
Our uncle went with the braised beef (my first choice if it hadn’t been spicy.) He said it was quite good.
I had the california club and opted for the guacamole for an extra $2. To drink I had a corona on tap.
The sandwich was excellent. The bun was fresh. The chicken breast wasn’t perfect - not dry in the least. The bacon was kind of crumbled onto the sandwich but I enjoyed it. I was able to slather a generous amount of avocado onto each half of my sandwich. I opted for a side salad and went with the Caesar. I think they used pita chips for the croutons. The enjoyed the salad but I loved the sandwich.
The washrooms are located in the basement. They were clean and we maintained but suffer from that musty basement smell that seems almost unavoidable in all basement bathrooms.
The decor is well suited to the theme of the restaurant and there is a nice ambiance.
They also have a crazy menu of drink options which ranges from beer to daiquiris.
Would recommend for a date, special occasion or if they had a discount drink night for people who like to watch sports in bars. Would also be good for large groups.
Price range was around $30-$40 per person but could probably be a lot more (we never...
Read moreNEVER book the party room at this restaurant! I booked it months in advance for a wedding reception for 30 people. I called multiple times to go over the seating placement and room details. Having an extra table to display our cake on. When we showed up to the restaurant, they had two full length tables filled with a hockey tournament team in our room. That left us only 3 tables for my guests and they were crammed so tightly together that we could barely move our chairs. There was no place available for my cake so it had to be stored in their kitchen. I asked the server why there were other people seated in the room I booked and she only said that they were very busy that night. I asked to speak with the manager and she stated he’d be over in a few minutes. Well he never came by and when I inquired again I was told that he left for the night. The next day I spoke with the owner of the restaurant. He kept trying to say that they didn’t know it was booked for a wedding reception and that I should have informed them. When I tried to explain that I did and had contacted them several times, he kept cutting me off and wouldn’t let me speak. When I asked him to please let me finish speaking he hung up on me! Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We will never go back. I strongly recommend to never book...
Read moreSo wifey and I finally decided to try Mexi's Cornwall today. When we first started dating in the early 90’s the original Mexi’s was our go to place. After that one closed we tried the locations in Ottawa and were left disappointed by the food, service and pricing. Up until today we hadn’t tried the Cornwall location yet because of the hit and miss reviews we had seen. But today we decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. Well…let me tell you!!!! We were not disappointed! The decor inside is very authentic right down to the music playing. The waitress was quick and attentive. But the food…omg the food! I had the Chicken Chimichanga’s with the beans and rice. Perfection. So much flavour, especially with the 2 different sauces poured over the chimichanga’s. The rice was fresh and full of flavour and the beans were the perfect consistency and all the food was hot. My wifey loved her Chicken Burrito Bowl which was surrounded with fresh nacho chips so you could scoop and eat if you wanted and so much yummy guacamole in it!!! We walked out of there with full bellies and huge smiles on our faces as it took us back 30 years. And all this for $48 before tip. I think we are going to be regulars here...
