I gave this 5 stars across the board because I actually want people to read this review.
I've never written a google review in my life.
Ordered a panzerotti for the first time from this place. I call, ask for delivery, they aren't doing delivery tonight so I reply "it's no problem I'll pick it up"
I walk in to pick up my order, first thing I see is a young kid sitting on the counter facing away from the counter chatting with his co-workers, smiling, having a good time. Sure, no problem. Same guy who was sitting on the counter serves me, asks me what kind of sauce I want and suggests one, I ask for marinara, he hands me a prepackaged marinara from some company like Heinz or something that expired June 26th 2024, he passed to it me across the counter with a smile September 6th / 7th. I didn't check in the store until I got home, make my plate, sit down and go to open the cheap marinara sauce that expired months ago written on the package and realize it's been no good for at least 2 months and somehow no one noticed or had the discipline to check, but people can sit on the counter facing away from customers when they walk in the door. It's just so ironic that I can tell people don't care when I walk in the door, and I realize they really don't when I go to return an expired sauce to get a new one. I called and asked if I could come for a new marinara sauce, they said sure on the phone. I come in and explain that I read the date and ask for a new marinara one but he said all those are expired. I asked him what other kinds he has, he pulls out 3 or 4 different kinds of the same prepackaged garbage in different flavours and even more of them were all expired and they didn't have any that were fresh and safe for consumption. I looked at my nasty choices for sauce and I was like nah it's ok I'll just not take a sauce and went to leave, he offers me a pop and I regretfully grab one out of pity to not seem like I'm completely furious and want to yell at the top of my lungs about how stupid and lazy people are that work there. You can't tell me no one reads the sauces when they organize them and put them where they belong before they're handed to customers. So in the end my genius solution was to go to a REAL PIZZA PLACE called Konstantinos half an hour after they were already closed and apologize for the inconvenience while I ask them to sell me a cup of real marinara sauce and explain why I'm going there after hours to begin with to ask for marinara sauce. The guy working at Konstantinos didn't even charge me for the sauce.
So if you ever wonder why the food tastes horrible, it's probably because they used expired ingredients or handed you a sauce that was expired and you were too naive to check yourself. Not everyone with a smile means well, including me. I might smile to their face and say "thanks a lot I appreciate it have a good night" but I guarantee you I'm furious. If you don't believe me and everyone else with their 1 star reviews, read them all and then try it yourself, I dare you. You'll understand then why people have come to...

One is me, one is my wife. Two people and two bad experiences = two 1 star reviews.
Secondly, my wife just told me that upon going back to the store to ask for her money back, we found out you fired the staff member who made our food because we left one star reviews.
Your staff member didn't create a bland, disgusting shawarma menu that only featured a few ingredients. Your staff member didn't call the business Shawarma Depot. Your staff member didn't source tiny cubes of chicken that come out of a fridge and call it shawarma. The business owner did that. YOU did that.
Several other reviews have commented on how dry and disgusting the shawarma is. This clearly isn't an issue with one staff member.
Good to know that you're willing to fire your staff members rather than addressing your own inadequacies as a business owner.
Yeah, they could have used less red onion. But when you give them less than a half dozen ingredients to work with, what do you expect to happen?
You can keep your free meal. I will not be eating here again.
To the staff member who lost their job because their boss had too big of an ego to take constructive criticism: I'm sorry this happened to you. You should not have been fired. I hope the next job you have is better than this one.
Also, I hope you know that if you have been working there for more than 3 months, you are entitled to termination pay as you were not given notice before being fired. Searching "ontario termination pay" will tell you what you are entitled to.
Our go-to shawarma place was closed so my wife went here instead. This is the first time I've ever received food so bad that it was inedible in Chatham. For a place that calls themselves Shawarma Depot, we would expect more filling ingredients than lettuce, tomato, red onion, turnips, and garlic sauce. The garlic sauce came on the side in a dipping container, which meant the shawarma itself was so dry.
When I opened my container, the shawarma inside was cut in half, and in the cross-section it looked like it was mostly red onions. I tried taking a few out and then taking a bite, but I still got mostly a mouthful of dry red onion. I literally had to spit it out into the wrapper because it was way too overpowering. My wife also started coughing from how many red onions were in theirs.
I tried taking out some more of the red onion, but the pita they used was stale, so it immediately broke into several pieces and everything fell out. Now my wife and I are left with two inedible, stale pita piles full of lettuce and onion, with a smidge of chicken. And what looks like a pizza garlic dipping sauce. I can't fathom why on Earth they put the name Shawarma in their business name, because this seemed like an afterthought at best.
Lesson learned- we'll just stick to Chatham...
