(There is now an edit marked below!) The atmosphere was solid, the cashier was nice and was prepared to help me with a smile! I had the barnyard burger with a poutine and chocolate shake so heres a small breakdown on that
The shake: the flavour was solid but also pretty sweet,it was also more on the runny side but if thats not a dealbreaker worth a try for sure (that being said it is a little pricy for the size)
The poutine: its good, a good amount of gravy and actual curds which is a plus, the fries had a good mouth feel to them, the only slight thing would probably be the gravy, it tastes fine but feels like it might be premade? Maybe canned? That being said its familiar, and not in a bad way overall good! Also i shared some with the fam, my mom and sister loved it, my brother thought for fast food its solid poutine!
The burger: my stomach was happy, overall barnyard is a fitting name, its got a lot going on and is MESSY lol that being said theres a good amount of pulled pork on it, id probably take a tiny bit of pulled pork off and add another patty personally to balance it a bit better but the flavour was good and i would order again for sure
EDIT: i came back with my family and i wasnt expecting it but the (i think) manager spoke with me and offered a free shake which i wasnt expecting at all, super generous, it was much thicker this time with the same great flavour from before, as for my personal order i got the combo with poutine since i was only eating for myself this time haha it was great, for a place saying its fast food its quality fast food, the burger was a solid classic burger cooked perfectly and overall well balanced, poutine was still great and the family all loved it (also i saw the comment on the gravy i meant nothing bad by it, it just tastes very familiar but amazing to know yall make it fresh!)
OH AND I FORGOT LAST TIME but sams grill doesnt use those aweful paper straws or wooden utensils so thats a huge up and also yall are great, solid staff :) keep up...
Read moreBeing originally from Montreal, I was genuinely excited to try Sam’s Grill’s much-talked-about smoked meat sandwich. There’s an old saying: there are two kinds of smoked meat: Montreal and 'Montreal-style'. Unfortunately, Sam’s falls into the latter camp. Tasty enough if you aren't familiar with the real thing, but not remotely close to anything you'd get in La Belle Province.
On the brighter side, their poutines are solid. Made with fresh-cut fries, they're flavorful, though a little on the small side. Still, they easily outshine Kara’s if you’re comparing heart attack-promoting apples to apples.
As for the burgers, let’s just say the ones coming out of the kitchen don’t exactly match the glamour shots on the menu board. That said, the double cheeseburger holds its own. Decent if unremarkable.
All in all, I walked in with high hopes of finding a local fix for my smoked meat cravings without the two-hour drive to Smoke Meat Pete’s and left knowing the pilgrimage will still...
Read moreWhen I was over visiting my sister and brother-in-law today they told me about this wonderful little restaurant they went to a couple of days ago. They loved it. So I checked it out in Google. I wanted to try it out so badly so we went today. I have got to tell you I absolutely loved the restaurant. The hamburger and poutine were the best I have had! The Hamburg was just like in the old days just like you would get at home not the premade patties at a lot of places. This will be my new go to restaurant. I will bring my daughter next time! The staff were so very very pleasant. See you soon!!! This review is doubled because my sister did not know about the review! ...
