Little bit of a background on me, I have a culinary background and consifer myself a connoisseur. I have been to Japan and have had everything from 15$ suishi to 150$ sushi. So this opinion comes from experience.
I've come here twice now and both times it have been medicore. The first time I came here I ordered the karage "burger", 2 large rolls and their chocolate dessert bomb. The karage was more batter than chicken, overcooked and very skimpy portion, eating the sandwhich was akin to eating stale bread for how dry it was. The rolls were equally pathetic with fsr to much seasame and poorly wrapped rolls with poor quality ingredients. The dessert was so unpalatable, dry, and bland I had to pitch it. It was also incredibly over priced with those four items coming to 45$. Don't get me wrong I am okay with payig good money for good food, this however was not good.
I decided to give them a second chance and came again today with a similar experience. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with pork, but they gave me shrimp instead. Aside from that blunder it was only a step above instant ramen with cheap undercooked noodles, a overly salty broth that they tried to fix by adding cayene pepper which doesn't belong in a tonkotsu, and a boiled egg over a traditional marinated one. It was sad, and tasted pretty awful. The shrimp atleast was half decent, though a tad over cooked it was passable. Ontop of the ramen I ordered a basic syake hosomaki, which would have been better if they hadn't destroyed it with seasame. It was also cross contaminated with wasabi from the workers gloves. I don't mind wasabi but the fact is this shouldnt happen as it tells me there gloves are not regularly changed.
Honestly this is the saddest sushi experience I've ever had. Things are overpriced for the quality offered and all the staff members I encountered do not even know how to pronounce there menu items. Encountered with the proper pronounciation they had no idea what I was asking for.
If you want sushi you are better off driving to Ottawa for some. With the cost of gas even cheap sushi would be better bang for your buck than...
Read moreNever been a fan of sushi shops. This one has the worst tasting sushi I've eaten ever. And I'm not hard to please. I think they need to hand roll instead of using the auto roller. And change their rice recipe.
Edit: few years later it's still bad, but mostly service. Everytime we've been inside (for Thai express) I go check. And they always says 30+ min waiting time no matter if it's empty. Noon, 3 pm, 6 anytime. Was told to order online ahead of time. Which I did today. Showed there and was told it wasn't working and had to call to get my reimbursement. Went on the site as informed by employee. And there's no number went back in and they said to call. Told them give me the number. Didn't have it. So she agreed to reimburse. I never told the order. And she knew the order. I asked about it. I had nonsensical explanation. Then was told what I ordered wasn't available yet only next month. Asked to just make me an equivalent (poke bowl) took her 3 mins. But just why give people the headache and complicated situation all the time. Why 30 mins when they aren't doing anything and being non chalant. It's a fast food restaurant. I've never seen them go other speed than slow dragging feet level of speed. Anyways. Was my last time. After trying a couple dozen times in 4 years. No improvement. Will email headoffice. If this wasn't a chain I feel it wouldn't stay open, the reviews all indicate the same unless it's a fake review...
Read moreI went into the restaurant this evening at 7:20pm with my 16 year old son. Upon my arrival a lady came over to the cash and told me that they were closed, I asked her what time they closed and she looked at the clock and then said 7:30pm. I then looked at my phone and saw that it was 7:21pm. I replied to her saying that it wasn't 7:30pm yet. She said to me that she had other orders to do and didn't have time to do mine. I was shocked by her response. After working in the restaurant industry for quite a few years and my husband also working as a cook for 20 years, I have never been told this going into any other establishment, nor have I have I ever been talked to like this by someone who worked in customer service. I am extremely disappointed by her behaviour to me. All I wanted was a Tuna Poke Bowl which took approx 3 minutes to make. She was rude, disrespectful, and did not make any sense at all by refusing to serve me 10 minutes before closing. You are paid by hour to provide a service. If you close at 7:30, that means you don't serve anyone after 730, but if a customer comes in before then I believe you should be obligated to serve said customer. Not...
