We got there and got tea to start off and then proceeded to order our food which you write down the quantity per item that you want. We asked for water for the table and only got one cup. So we kept asking and then got a 2nd one meanwhile there's 8 people at the table. Then we got our receipt showing us what we ordered before the food came and I noticed that it was unusually high so I checked and random items were added to our bill and some quantities didn't match up. I told them about that and they didn't understand and said it's fine. Then we got the food and items that we never ordered started coming so I asked her to show me my order sheet and not the receipt but she never came back. I had to go up to the counter and sort it all out which she then started saying that I ordered it all and pointed to random things on the table that didn't even make sense. so then I went back up to the counter and went through each item on my order sheet and whats on the table and had to cross off what was on the receipt myself for them to understand. in the midst of all this we never got our waters. Once we got the receipt and food figured out, we noticed that they kept trying to give us more food that we didn't order and found out the server was thinking our table was another number. then we had to keep calling them to clear our plates meanwhile we see them clearing other tables without having to ask. when we finally got the final bill we saw that each cup of tea was $2 which they never mentioned and we were hit with a 12 % service charge for the worst service ever. Needless to say I am never coming back here nor...
Read moreYesterday was my first time dining here, and I was never informed that a service charge would be added. When I paid the bill, the staff also didn’t mention that the service charge was already included — instead, they still asked me for a tip. It was only when I noticed the total seemed unusually high that I carefully checked the receipt and saw that a 12% service charge had already been added.
When I asked why this fee was charged and why it was not mentioned to me, the staff said there was a small sign on the table stating the 12% service charge. However, the sign is very small, double-sided, and the side facing me had no service charge notice — only the other side did.
Why is this information not clearly printed on your menu or shown in a visible way, but instead hidden on an inconspicuous sign, and only on one side? How can you ensure customers will see it?
I expect the business to provide a clear explanation. Otherwise, I will be contacting Consumer Protection Ontario to file a complaint, as I believe this practice fails to properly...
Read moreWe've been looking for a great dim sum restaurant ever since the New Thai Hu closed and were excited to hear about a new dim sum restaurant so we decided to check it out. The excitement didn't last long.
The wrappers on the food (har gow, rice flour rolls, etc) were very thick. The rice flour rolls were thick and gummy. The sticky rice was mushy and bland. The sui mai were good.
I had to ask for a new bowl and plate because the ones on the table each had a brown spot on them - clearly something got missed in dishwashing.
This restaurant is very expensive for dim sum - five items plus tea came to around $50.00. We thought, well, maybe that's what dim costs these days, but I checked the menu of a restaurant we used to go to in Oakville and no, their prices are lower than this restaurant and from what I remember, the quality was much higher.
So, we keep waiting and hoping for London to get a great dim sum restaurant. This one is a...
