I went in here, with an open heart and normal expectations. I had a meal here about 10 years about with co-workers, it was delicious. Fast forward to today, I bring my husband , our two kids (21 & 18) and their SO’s to celebrate numerous things (graduation, 21st bd, quitting a job, 1 year anniversary). So, we quickly order three apps, Bruschetta, Arancini and Calamari. The apps came quickly and were devoured. At this point, we need more water and are ready to order. From the time of ordering until we were plated, it was approximately 35 minutes. The first to notice something was off was our son’s girlfriend’s, who ordered gnocci, that was supposed to be without meat. Our orders were all delivered around the same time, however hers came with meat. It took quite some time to get a server to attend and retrieve the meal. 10 minutes later, we asked for a status update, (turns out they were making it wrong again), so finally we decided to leave as most of us were finished. They insisted we take the correct gnocci, which we did. I should also mention, we were seated on the 2nd floor, which was jam packed, loud, and very warm.
All in all, food was just ok (portions small, flavour was meh, wait was too long). I, along with my fellow dining companions would not return. Which, is really too bad, based on this location in an up and coming neighborhood. But, I’m sure Vito’s has its established clientele.
Lastly, this was my first time exercising the “no tip” option. There were too many things wrong for me to compensate someone, and my family was adamant we not leave a tip. So, one was not left. I believe a tip is for over-and-above customer service, but sub-par service. We when had to go hunting for our waiter, or raise our hand up like a student in school, something isn’t right.
I would love to hear from the owner(s) as to how this can be corrected in future for other diners...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with the service, I’ve been a loyal customer for years; either dining in with friends or my father or mother and extended family.before covid the service was great and I celebrated 3 of my birthdays here.however recently the service has not only been disappointing but disrespectful.after they opened up back again on several occasions I called in advance for reservations.each time I was told something different.when I made a reservation I was told they didn’t take any on arrival and when I was told to walk in I was met with a rude dismissive attitude and asked if I had any reservations.the last time I dined in I got food poisoning from the seafood pasta and my step mother was sick for a week afterwards because of the food as well.this week I dined in with my family my starter and main were both burned to a char and my sister found pieces of hair in her food.we chose to not make a big fuss about it but afterwards we were basically kicked out of the restaurant because someone else was seen as more of a priority and wanted our table.we tried ordering something else and were told we could not.they hide behind covid rules to continue this behaviour I have several friends working at different patios and the rules they were telling my family were complete lies.to be disrespected and dismissed like that after spending money on food and drinks for a 4 person table was just baffling.I really wish they will change this behaviour because they will lose customers continuing this way.this used to be one of my favourite restaurants to go to but now sadly I cannot say I will be...
Read moreThe place was booked up when we called but they had seats at the bar available luckily. Be sure to call days in advance for reservations.
The wine selection is decent with some actual quality bottles available at around 3x the price at LCBO, below average bottle pricing for a place like this. The bar keep can make any drink you desire. And the hand crafted coffee machine looks legendary, I'm sure it's a hit with the afternoon crowd.
The menu is great, plenty of options but not overwhelming. You get your money's worth in portion size, even the apps, come hungry and take your time! Although the calamari app was 4 times bigger than we're used to, it was just this side of overdone and the chefs idea of jazzing it up with a balsamic vinaigrette was uninspired. The ribeye was AAA+ quality, but I requested rare and got medium rare. I highly recommend it though, it was tender and tasty, the blackened finish is superb. That and the Sterling were the highlight of the night, if it actually came rare this would be a 5 ⭐review. The tiramisu is legit but needs work.
The service from the bar keep was exceptional, friendly and personable while not in your face. He was able to anticipate our needs without seeming to even look at our glasses and plates. So if bar seating is all that's available don't hesitate, you're in good hands.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Whether you are out for dinner and drinks with friends or on a date night with your significant other, or maybe just seeking a couple of drinks at the bar, you can't go wrong by checking in to...
