Overall awful experience. The miso soup was handmade but really basic, Tomo, Orchid Sushi and Kyoto's are better, as they have one or two more ingredients. The price tag doesn't justify the quality of the soup. The sushi is nothing but average, and $14 for a rainbow roll that doesn't blow my mind is a waste of money. I'd get sushi at Bento for this price that would taste better. Come on. I don't know what you did to the soy sauce either but it was extra salty, and quite frankly it gave me a headache. I would suggest that you switch to another brand with less sodium, and if it's homemade, go easy on the salt.
Last but not least, we had to wait 30 minutes for our sushi to finally get to our table. The waiter giggled when we told him my girlfriend and I had to switch plates because he didn't take the order properly. Not funny dude, one of us could have had an allergy or an intolerance. He also never refilled our glasses.
$30 for an average miso soup and average sushi is a rip off. This is the Wasabi syndrome, you're making people pay for a quality that's tremendously lacking.
We only came because Orchid Sushi was closed due to a power outage. We will not...
Read moreFestival Japan has become our go-to Japanese restaurant in Ottawa. The cuisine is unique and something we rarely find in Toronto. However, during our recent visit, we were pleasantly surprised to experience a newly renovated restaurant with a fresh interior and even discover a new izakaya menu. Initially, I was a bit hesitant, wondering if our family of five, spanning different ages, would enjoy it as much as our usual selections. To our amazement, every dish we tried left us thoroughly impressed. This culinary experience was a testament to the craftsmanship and expertise of a Japanese Chef who brings decades of skill to every plate. I wholeheartedly recommend every Ottawa resident and visitor to explore the delightful new menu at Festival Japan. Thank you for surpassing our expectations and leaving us more...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend wanted to try new restaurants downtown and we came across Festival Japan, the bento box menu on the window looked very promising and good. We ended having both the karaage bento box and it surely did not disappoint. We were greeted by the chef, he was very nice and kind, offered us to sit down and gave us a glass of water. He was also very funny :) The thing that blew us away was the atmosphere of the restaurant, through the music and style it certainly left us in awe. The food was very good, but the spring rolls in the bento box felt a bit out of place. All in all, the customer service, food and location was great. We are very excited to come back to sit down and eat when the...
