Normally, I give five star reviews. Small businesses deserve being highlighted, and I had been going to this pub for about seven years. What happened about 20 minutes ago is beyond me.

This was the place I'd go to with my spouse, the place I'd go to with my mom for brunch, the place I'd recommend. This was the place after a moving Remembrance Day I'd go and have a drink to honour those not around with me anymore, those that I served with.

No more.

I had finished work early and thought I'd have a pint. I was talking with a gentleman that happens to be an immigrant, and we got along so well that what was a quick pint turned into a few hours of amazing cross cultural talk. A pint an hour, maybe slightly more.

As I'm about to call it at the late hour of five pm, the gent offers me a pint of Guinness. They aren't free, more so from an immigrant with limited means. I accepted. They took his money, and refused to serve me.

I explained, they didn't seem interested. Taking his money (at least give him back his fare, good God!), I went to a local ATM to at least pay him back what he paid for, though he was hesitant to accept it. The money, I suspect, will be pocketed along with the unserved fare.

I hope today was an unbelievably, outrageously unrepresentative experience.

It pains me to say this. Though that kind of treatment...

So let me get this clear, loose a 15 year vet to your establishment and replace them with kids, not only policies and so forth all of sudden change, but apparently no one there gives a crap…

Its horrible service, and when they took my order got it all wrong and some how the new bartender claims I made a mistake… common I live in building wings were me at for to go, but for both orders, while she brings the wing to me gates the second one was brought to anoth table… then I stated the wings were both meant to go, breaded with two saucesof hot a d two of honey garlic, 20 customers total all eating already, slow night and you screwed up twice lol then get home and my wings aren't even go damn breaded lol….

Come on this is a joke I'm a chef I could easily do tiis order my eyes close…. This place needs new staff badly I think I'll never go hear again which is bad cause I go 8 times a month so far…..

Btw how the hell wings cold...

Avoid this place at all costs. My recent visit to this restaurant left much to be desired. Despite a decent atmosphere, the lackluster service was evident. With a not busy restaurant, our small group of six faced disappointments like cold fries and a dried-out grilled salmon dish. The server disappeared after taking our orders, leaving us without a chance to provide feedback or order more than the one redeeming factor – the non-house beer. The unprofessional server didn't address our concerns, pushing dessert sales while ignoring the unfinished meals on our table. Even when we requested more water, the service remained subpar, exemplified by a self-serve water pitcher. The staff's disregard for our comfort, from cold doors opening to rush reasons during winter, arranged the restaurant's outdoor tables. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this poorly managed...

It was a terrible experience today at Royal oak Kent. As we are frm Kanata, we usually go to Kanata Royal Oak. As Canada day, we tried going to Kent/Slater location today. The server was not at all helping us. We asked the server to make the wings well done and the server said NO. We ordered 2lb of wings and asked half cajun & half lemon pepper and then she said NO. The wings were just above average & again, we got treated badly as the server was not patient enough to hear our order completed. It was a very bad experience and will not recommend this particular Royal Oak location. Will never visit again

Nothing like an Irish Pub. No matter where you go in the world it seems that as long as they stick loosely to the formula it is a great place to hang. The food was great, the Guiness properly served, and considering I was there at a time when there was limited US bourbon, even the Irish whisky is tasty. And, in a weird twist they have a excellent dessert menu. Now the service is brilliant. Make sure you ask for Sunshine - she makes you feel right at home with honest food recommendations and prompt delivery of your pints of Mother's Milk (aka Guinness). She is the jewel of this pub.
