Bottom line up front: I fully recommend Mumbai Masala Grill based on food and service alone.
Parking: minimal street parking.
Wait time: I went on a Sunday at 17h00 and I had a table immediately.
Service: the host was friendly and polite. The wait staff were very friendly, polite, and helpful. They came around about every 15 minutes to check that everything was alright; I really appreciated the wonderful hospitality.
Noise: there was some nice Indian music playing at just the right volume: loud enough to be enjoyed, but not so loud that people needed to raise their voices to hear each other.
Aesthetics: it’s an Indian restaurant so there was obvious cultural artwork and decor, but there seemed to be an eclectic mix of eastern asian influence as well. The restaurant was pleasing, but they could probably enhance their appeal by choosing one theme and going with that rather and an eclectic mix.
Comfort: the tables and chairs were comfortable and well spaced. The temperature was also pleasant at about 21 or 22°C.
Drink: They had three different Indian beers available in bottles: cheetah light/dark and kingfisher. All three are good in my humble opinion. There were plenty of other options on the menu, but those were the three specifically Indian options.
Food: great selection and large portions. There are many vegetarian options and meals with meat. I ordered the tandoori meat platter and it was delicious but far too much for one person. I’m not complaining; but next time I go I would probably share one dish with a second person. The naan bread is good too. I was quite pleased with the food.
Price: most dishes are $18-$20. The meat platter was $30, but again, it was a platter and that’s not an exaggeration. You could easily split it between two adults.
Washroom: not wheelchair accessible. It was down a flight of stairs and there is no elevator option. The washroom was clean, but in need of a renovation.
Conclusion: with a little work on aesthetics and a renovated, wheelchair friendly washroom; I would happily give Mumbai Masala...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a flavorful and satisfying lunch experience, Mumbai Masala Grill delivers in spades. Their lunch buffet is a perfect blend of traditional Indian favorites and fresh, vibrant offerings.
The meal kicks off with a trio of appetizers that truly hit the spot — crispy Pani Puri with tangy, spiced water, juicy and smoky Chicken Tikka, and crisp Spring Rolls that add a fun Indo-Chinese twist. Each one was well-prepared and full of flavor.
The buffet spread is impressive, with both meat and vegetarian options that cater to all palates. The Goat Curry was rich and tender, while the Butter Chicken was creamy and comforting. On the vegetarian side, the Shahi Paneer and Daal Makhni were standouts — full of depth and slow-cooked goodness. The Veg Biryani was aromatic and paired beautifully with their fresh naan bread, served hot and fluffy.
What really elevated the experience was the generous salad bar and variety of chutneys. From minty to sweet to spicy, the chutney options added that extra zing to every bite.
Overall, Mumbai Masala Grill offers a delicious and diverse lunch buffet that’s both satisfying and great value for money. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine with variety...
Read moreWe went to try the unlimited buffet and saw good reviews about it everywhere. There was a lot of variety- desert(gulab jamun, petha), dahi puri, pani puri, spring roll, samosa, raita, papad, 3 curries,2 daals, fresh naan and rice. The taste of the food was very blandified. The food quality was not up to par at all. It felt like leftovers kept in a lukewarm hot plate. I was expecting a lot more in terms of taste. Like their salad bar was evidently not fresh or changed for days. Onions in vinegar were slimy. Pani puri and chat papri were okay but teekha pani was feeka. spring roll and samosa were good but you can tell they are similar to frozen ones from your grocery store paneer sabji was more screaming red colour with no garam masala and was not refilled or refreshed mix vegetable sabji was edible but cooked for days as veggies were mushy. chana masala and dal makhni was nice in taste but no salt I was disappointed in desserts as I don't like gulab jamun or petha. Reels are made to believe there are so many options like jalebi, etc. naan was lovely but had margarine on top.
It's okay food if you are stuck for lunch in downtown but not to drive all the way there and pay for parking to...
