service was very fast and the waiters were so friendly. keep in mind that they asked for the proof of vaccine and a piece of ID. for the food, the vegetable tempura udon was very tasty i would eat it even if i were full. sushi was very tasty too but it was a bit dry so i will ask for spicy mayo next time i go. as for the price, itโ€™s definitely not a cheap option but you really get waht you pay for. i had 2 friends with me, we wereextremely full and each person paid 30bucks (tip included) which is much better than many all you can eats. overall, very satisfied with my experience. ADDITION Went there again and it was still amazing. With the inflation, the prices were raised but I realized the portion sizes gotten much bigger. One person can easily be full with 1 dish. The service was amazing and meals come with a dessert! Definitely recommended. I tried the vegetable udon which was amazing and flavorful. I also tried Volcano and Five Guys sushi rolls (the names might be wrong) and honestly they were amazing. I will come here more often!

Situated among the many dining options in Bank Street, Hanabi Sushi offers fresh and great quality sushi with a menu that is vast, with plenty of vegetarian dishes and non-fish options. This is my go-to sushi spot in the neighbourhood that is not really your over-the-top fancy place, but an excellent family run sushi place that has never let me down. The dinner set here includes I'd previously had a sashimi boat here which was EXCELLENT so I decided to get takeout here for dinner. Overall pretty disappointed: 1) salmon teriyaki bento - no salad or soup. Bed of rice topped with 0.75x portion of salmon, teriyaki veggies are put in a separate compartment to take up more space. Tempura was ok, 1 shrimp + 3 veggies. For $20+, would not get again. 2) spicy salmon maki - a bit too much rice but it was otherwise fine. 3) five island roll - the sauce and cheese with the torch flavour is very nice but there was SO much rice. I ended up taking the roll apart. Bases on experience today I don't think I'd get any of these items again.

I don't usually bother writing reviews but Hanabi deserves it, especially after doing right by me today (long story, they mistakenly added sashimi to my order, but refunded it when I brought my receipt back).

Ordered from several times, always well prepared and fairly priced - liked it more than Genji, actually, which I thought was kind of the best in Ottawa.

Ordered takeout on a Friday (COVID), and hopped in the car and went to my friend's place. When I arrived 30 mins later (they live way out of the city), we noticed there was a second serving of sashimi, and I checked the receipt - a combo was added to the order that I didn't request. I called them at the start of the week, and after a little confusion, they asked me if I had the receipt (I did) and if I could come in.

When I got there a lady helped me, and although a gentleman came out with his arms crossed, asking me "where the sashimi was" and if I ate it (I left it at my friend's place; was I supposed to hang onto it for 3-4 days in case you wanted it back...?), the lady politely shooed him into the back and refunded the cost of the sashimi - even calculated the tax.

So, although I got some pushback - I understand, restaurants are tough business, even more so nowadays - they did right by me and continue to serve great sushi. I'll be ordering from here again.

Just double check your takeout order before you leave the...

A well serviced Japanese restaurant on Bank Street. I thought the food was good but not great.. I went there for lunch and ordered a salmon teriyaki Bento box. The meal began with a miso soup which could have been warmer (though my colleague found it perfect). The Bento itself looked appetising with a very juicy and fresh salad, a (very) small salmon teriyaki steak, a bowl of rice and an optional item. The optional item being either a set of maki rolls, veg dumplings and another one that I cannot remember. The salad was the best of the lot, the rice also..well rice. The salmon left me wanting more flavour (but maybe that's my inexperience with Japanese food in general) and lastly the dumplings. I had requested for the dumplings to be steamed rather than deep fried as is the default. Staemed was not possible so I settled for a pan fried version.. what I got had a good filling but undercooked dough. Left me with an unsavoury taste, something not recommended. Apart from that I would revisit and try the other food on the menu. Good service, pleasant staff.. Torn between a 3 and a 4 star... Maybe somewhere in between with a revised review...

Came here with a friend, tried the "Tenderous Rib Ramen", and the dynamite maki rolls.

The maki rolls were actually quite good, we both thoroughly enjoyed them.

The ramen on the other hand wasn't very good. The noodles were okay, the broth was average at best, and the egg was closer to hard boiled, so it was overcooked. The ribs (3 of them) came still on the bone, sitting in the soup. I had expected just rib meat, not full rib bones in my soup. Trying to eat ribs with chopsticks alone is very difficult, and no side plate was brought for the bones when I was done either. The soup spoon to eat the broth was more like a ladle than a spoon, and while it looked nice, it was far from functional for actually eating the dish.

They provided us with an alcohol menu, which when we tried to order off it, we were told they didn't have a liquor license yet. Probably best to just not give us that menu at all, then, or mention it up front when giving us the menus.

Overall, I definitely wouldn't come back.

Another person mentioned the free appetizer promo. I just want to note this promo was not offered or mentioned to us, and we were there Saturday,...
