Orchid Sushi — Restaurant in Ottawa

Horrible experience with delivery. Sushi was dry/stale and tempura was totally cold by the time our order finally came more than TWO HOURS after the specified delivery time. But even more atrocious was the customer service. Called three times to ask what was happening with my order and they refused to give me any concrete information, just kept saying “it’s coming” without even asking for my name or any identifying info, even straight up hung up on me when I asked if they could call the driver to see how much longer it would be. Completely reasonable request if your order is 2 hrs behind. If you have to order from them make sure you do it through Uber and not their website as there is no way to see the progress of the order. The driver is legit the only person with any customer service skills. Word of advice to the owner: the way you treat your customers affects how they perceive your food. If you’re behind, that’s fine, just apologize and be honest. If you can’t guarantee delivery times don’t even have that as an option, it’s not fair to the customer. I would’ve understood and offered to pick up myself if that was the hold up. It felt bad to be dismissed when I was only asking for an update, and in turn everything tasted...

First time traveling to Ottawa and chose to try out this place and it was terrible. We ordered sashimi and sushi platter and the sushi was terrible. The sushi rice was just cold plain rice and huge for the size of the fish on top, we lessened some of the rice. Never had the rice on nigiri that was not mixed with vinegar. We were not happy with the quality for the price that we paid. One of the sashimi had a thorn inside and my husband had to spit out the whole piece. The server wasn't available (saw her leaving the store while we were eating). We were the only customer at the time and no one checked with us. No customer service at all. We had two sashimi and sushi platters, one roll, and prawn tempura and the cost was $80. Overall, had terrible experience here. Highly recommend to avoid this place. A cute little restaurant, it was perfect for a date night. It looks like they have geared themselves more towards takeout due to Covid-19 restrictions and have done so very successfully. Several people came in for pickup while we were there and the food was ready for them either right away or within a couple minutes.

We ordered a few different appetizers and rolls, and they all came out looking beautiful and vibrant. The fish looked and tasted super fresh and the rice was well seasoned. The chef had great plating/presentation skills. We really enjoyed the appetizers, the seaweed salad was perfect. My fiancée has a mild avocado allergy and even though most of the items on the menu contain avocado, they made everything without and put some on the side for myself. We were very impressed.
