Hubby and I attended the kino festival monthly social held at this royal oak location. It’s a great spot for socials as they can rope off a section for your group and you get that intimate feeling. Service to our members was superb and the design of the section allowed easy mingling. We were pleasantly surprised but usually we both flake out and end up in a corner all by ourselves. As I said, the design gave everyone the chance to move around and socialize without disrupting the entire venue. We shared a simple plate of very tasty poutine. The gravy was extremely tasty and the cheese seemed to be the real article— something that is sometimes lacking. We will surely attend more if these events .

First we had nachos for an appetizer. Was very tasty. Then my partner had the Winchester sandwich with poutine on the side. He absolutely loved it all! I had the maple glazed salmon with sides of basmati rice and veggies. It was mouthwatering. Only thing I would have added was a side of tartar sauce but I'm weird like that lol! For beverages we had strawberry daquiris and Molson Canadian draft. Obviously very delicious and the perfect accompaniment for the kareoke party that started at 9. Was a full house and there is definitely a lot of untapped talent in the clientele. An amazing evening with many memories made. I wish I remembered our severs name but she was fabulous 💜👌

I’m a long-time customer of the former Ottawa U location, Kent St. and Bank St. Usually the food is outstanding (best wings in town by far). I have no idea what happened tonight. I ordered a chicken Quesadilla, which is as easy to make as a grilled cheese sandwich. The tortillas on the outside weren’t even cooked! It follows that all the internal ingredients weren’t cooked either. The cheese wasn’t even melted. When I picked up a quarter, all of the cold ingredients came spilling out. It was literally inedible. And I’ll eat just about anything. No seasoning, no flavour, not cooked. 1/5. Thankfully the $70 worth of booze made up for it. Do better guys.

This is one of the only places open after I finish work. Tonight my partner and I went together and ordered a strawberry daiquiri each. I am Asian and extremely susceptible to Asian glow (I get red even after one ounce of anything). The strawberry daiquiris were meant to have 2 oz. I finished mine pretty fast and felt no difference at all, and had no visual indication that alcohol was consumed. We paid $80 (before tip) for our meals and drinks, and I only realized after the fact. The cocktails were $15 each!! :( never going back to Royal oak. My last visit before this was to a different location and when I asked to apply my student discount, I didn't know my student ID had expired a year before but I offered to show the bartender my active course schedule as proof that I'm still a student and she wouldn't let me finish my sentence and kept insisting only a valid student ID could...

I ordered through Skip The Dishes and the salad was good but the flatbread that arrived was a hard, dry, half loaf of bread with cheap cheese slopped on top of it with low quality produce. It was marketed as having spinach and artichokeS but it isn’t fresh spinach and artichokes, it is spinach artichoke dip adding to the moist mass of half melted cheddar and goat cheese. Mind you, this also had raw red onion, tomato and red peppers. I’m not sure why the bread was so dry and overdone but the cheese and vegetables were raw. Gross. I discussed swapping the item with some guy named Brad but all he said without seeing the inedible mass is “they all come like that”. Well Brad if they do your company needs to take the item off the menu because it is inedible. Thanks for poor...

I just ended up pretty disappointed. Went there to have fun on Canada day. Got cut off for the first time in my life after a handful of drinks. It felt like we were inconveniencing the staff everytime we asked for something. Me and my friends just paid, went to another bar and ended up having a good time there. Food was great but it was just an unfortunate experience. My friends and I are powerlifters. North of 300lbs each. Really we would have needed twice as much to actually get a buzz. We walked out feeling worse than we walked in but not because of how much we had to drink in the traditional sense.

I guess we just won't come back? Don't seem to want our money. We were surprised at how little people were there. But we...
