I had lunch with my mom today at lefty's. She is an 81 year old lady who has a very special buddy that travels everywhere with her. His name is Freddy . Freddy is a 2lb teacup poodle and registered service dog. Freddy goes everywhere with her . Mum and I like to eat out and Freddy always goes with us. Freddy is a welcomed guest at ( A ) The Sheraton Waterfront Hotel ( B ) The Bayside Ocean Front Resort ( C ) Nanoose bay Cafe , etc etc etc just to name a few Freddy never barks at the table, he sleeps on my mums lap and most people never even notice him. The waiter who looked after us today must have not even noticed Freddy as well. He provided excellent service , was clean cut , fit and clean shaven . As we approached the counter prepared to pay and i was about to enter a tip on my visa card , a manager came out of nowhere rather suddenly , interrupting me as i tried to pay and said " Sorry but dogs are not allowed " my mum replied " but he is a service dog " and the manager replied, " that doesn't matter, i don't see a badge and i don't know that". My mum responded by saying, " I can show you his I.D " and he said, " No ! we are a licensed food establishment and we cant have that ! I was getting mad and felt my blood begin to boil . The waiter apologized ( i tipped him well despite it all ) and my mum and I left and probably wont be returning. Freddy is a good little dog and remained silent right up to the moment we went to pay. He let out a little bark at the cash register as we were leaving and if it were not for that. no-one would have known he was even there. My issue is with the manager . His timing couldn't have been worse and he could have used some discretion . Certainly he is not helping his staff earn better gratuities in this manner. Clearly a manager new at his job , short minded and not very accustomed to the hospitality industry. Freddy was either in my mums lap or in her arms the entire time. He was not a threat or disruptive to anyone in fact he was barely noticeable ! Having said all that ! the food was average , the service was good but, the management ....should definitely Think before they speak We were leaving at that time and we ( the three of us ) wont be...
Read moreWe were in the middle of a home renovation and needed to order in. Also had a special requirement for gluten free. We went through the pain of ordering online as they wouldnt take our order over phone. This was difficult and all had to be confirmed by phoning in to be sure they received detailed instructions about food allergies. A very time consuming process under our busy schedule.
The food was ok and thankfully did come allergen free, but pizza arrived cold. And here is why:
Despite the fact that they charged me $15 to go literally five minutes past their delivery zone they sent a woman who had no idea how to deliver. She got lost by going in the wrong direction on her gps which I believe must have been her own fault because when she called me for instructions she a) would not stop talking to let me give her instructions. B) would not listen to any of the instructions without rudely interrupting me c) continued driving while talking on the phone to me to get her instructions which is against the law and d) the instructions to get to my place were also emailed with the order in detail and she had not bothered to read them or the restaurant had not bothered to give them to her.
The entire process was a waste of time. When I asked the woman to please stop talking and listen to my instructions she threatened to cancel my order which I had already paid $115 for. She continued to be very rude throughout the call.
Thank fully we eventually received the food which was mediocre for the price but at least hit the spot.
I might add that we called in earlier and were never told about the extra charge to deliver to our place and did not discover it until we were already at the end of our order process. They could have easily disclosed that to us when we called them in the first place.
Everything is now run by computers and the personal touch and care about customers is many times lost. I seek to find the businesses that do not hide behind computer screens to get the job done and still know how to talk to their clients and listen to their needs. Those are the only businesses that will be around in ten years,...
Read moreDear Leftys Owner,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share some feedback regarding our recent visit to Leftys on New Year’s Eve.
Firstly, I would like to mention that this was our first time dining at your establishment, and we were enthusiastic about supporting a local business, especially on such a significant occasion. However, our experience did not meet our expectations, which I feel is important to bring to your attention.
We encountered issues with the service provided by our server, Jill. When we inquired about menu items, her response seemed dismissive, suggesting she return at a later time rather than assisting us. This interaction unfortunately set a tone of unwelcomeness for the remainder of our brunch.
Moreover, our orders were served incomplete, and it was challenging to get the necessary assistance to rectify this. We expected a more proactive approach in ensuring our dining experience was pleasant.
Upon expressing our concerns to the manager, we anticipated a more understanding and professional response. Regrettably, the manager's demeanor was surprisingly confrontational, resulting in a demand that we leave the establishment, before being able to finish our meals. We requested to be left alone to eat in peace after this conflict, while the manager on duty slammed a bill and to go boxes at our table. We paid our bill in full using cash, unfortunately we couldn’t justify leaving a tip as our service left us feeling very disrespected.
As loyal patrons of local businesses, we were disheartened by this experience. We believe in the value of constructive feedback and hope that our comments will be taken as an opportunity for improvement. Our intention is not to disparage, but rather to highlight areas where the dining experience could be enhanced for future patrons.
Thank you for taking the time to read our feedback. We believe that Leftys has the potential to offer a wonderful dining experience, and we hope our comments will contribute to...
