I've been a regular at Dragon Rolls in Pickering, often enjoying their all-you-can-eat dine-in. However, my recent visit for takeout on August 8, 2023, revealed a few areas that could use enhancement. When my son and I walked into the restaurant, it was relatively quiet – a promising sign for a swift takeout experience. We placed an order for Chicken Fried Rice, four orders of Beef Teriyaki Rolls, and two orders of Cheese Wontons. The staff courteously informed us that the wait time would be around 15-20 minutes. Unfortunately, our excitement dwindled as we patiently waited for our order, only to receive it after a prolonged 45-minute wait. The extended wait time was a tad disappointing, and a more accurate estimate would have better managed our expectations. One aspect that caught my attention during this visit was the state of the restroom. While the overall restaurant was tidy, the restroom seemed to lack the same attention to detail. I noticed toilet paper scattered on the floor, which indicated a need for more consistent maintenance and cleanliness in this area. Also the flush lever on the toilet was hanging but I was still able to operate it. This should be fixed. When we finally indulged in our meal at home, the flavors were as scrumptious as ever. The Chicken Fried Rice was a delightful mix of flavors and textures, and the Beef Teriyaki Rolls were bursting with savory goodness. The Cheese Wontons were crispy and satisfying. Unfortunately, we were not told of the complementary Spicy Crab Rolls – a dish that clashed with our preferences for both seafood and spice. It would be a great improvement if the staff confirmed such additions with customers before including them, avoiding any food wastage and ensuring a tailored experience. While our order included an unwanted surprise, the overall flavors of the dishes reminded us why we keep coming back. Here's to hoping Dragon Rolls takes these suggestions to heart, providing an even more remarkable dining experience in the future.

I recently had an extremely unpleasant experience with Dragon Rolls. I placed a takeout order and to my utter shock, I discovered a rock/pebble inside one of the gyoza dumplings. As I attempted to eat it, the rock actually caused damage to my tooth, resulting in significant discomfort and pain. Concerned about this alarming incident, I immediately contacted the restaurant by phone and also sent an email, expecting a prompt response and resolution. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts, nobody bothered to address my concerns or provide any form of assistance. This lack of care and responsiveness is highly disappointing and unacceptable. What's even more concerning is that this is not the first time I've encountered issues with Dragon Rolls. In a previous experience, I ordered their soft shell crab, which turned out to be completely off. While they did credit me for that subpar experience, the fact that they completely ignored my recent serious concern is deeply disheartening. It is crucial for a dining establishment to prioritize customer safety, satisfaction, and address such distressing incidents promptly. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against dining at Dragon Rolls. Their lack of accountability, negligence towards customer well-being, and disregard for resolving issues make them an unfit choice for any dining occasion.

Extremely Disappointed — Not Coming Back I was really excited to try this place because I love seafood, especially sashimi, and I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants across the GTA and Durham. Sadly, Dragon Rolls was a huge letdown. First, we ordered beef skewers, but the waitress forgot to include it — no apology, just a simple “oops,” so we had to cancel it altogether. Then when our food finally arrived, it went downhill fast. The sashimi platter wasn’t fresh at all — no shine, dull color, and a rough texture like it just came out of the freezer. The grilled calamari was NOT grilled — it was clearly boiled and tossed in teriyaki sauce. That’s not what I ordered. The butter shrimp had no butter flavor whatsoever — it was misleadingly described but turned out to be shrimp coated in batter, not butter. And the grilled mussels? Definitely not grilled. They slapped cheese on top and blowtorched it. Worst part? The mussels had an odd aftertaste like they were starting to spoil. To make it worse, the waitress kept watching us eat the entire time. It was super uncomfortable. We spent $102.15 and walked out still hungry and upset. This was such a disappointing dining experience. Food was subpar, misleading, and borderline inedible. Definitely not coming back. Check the photos if you need proof.

I have mixed review about this place, firstly I wanted to say the food was good compared to other sushi restaurants. However the service and communication were lacking a lot. We went yesterday with a group of 4 of us on a Friday. It was a little busy but not to busy to the point food wasnt coming out.

I go to sushi places to order sushi and not mainly cooked food, as my party gets their food, I had ordered 40 salmon sashimi but my order never came though only the rolls and hot food were delivered after a reasonable amount of time waiting.

So we had ordered again and this time yet again the hot food were being delivered but no sashimi which I ordered 40 more again. I spoke to this amazing staff name Shasha, she was very friendly and assured me that she will look into my order for me. Finally after waiting so long I get my salmon order however to my disappointment only 20 pieces were delivered and in sharing with my party I never got my fill.

This time around we order our 3rd order with 10more samon sashimi and our server Danny came by and I explained how long I've been waiting and for a sushi restaurant the sashimi is taking much longer then the cooked food is.

Danny went on very defensively explaining that there is only one chef cutting the salmon and that he is to busy to chop up sashimi as lots of tables are ordering this. That I have to wait for it and made a lot of hand gestures explaining how busy the chef is and that its customers fault for ordering so much...

I was really upset at this point as I came for sushi and not get into an arguement on how busy the sashimi chef is...

Long story short I got my 2nd order and once again only 20 were on our plate and to make this even more upsetting the pieces of salmon sashimi were half the size of our first order.. thin tiny pieces counting to 20.

I got tired of this server so i ordered some hot dish such as shrimp, beef ribs and japanese fried rice. Which came quickly after consuming 80% of my rice I saw a hair at the bottom of my plate.. it was disgusting that I lost my appetite to eat.. I showed Shasha this and she apologized profusely.

Finally after my party had their ice cream, when the bill time came Danny sprung into action with serving us the bill but first I wanted to speak to a manager about our experience. I saw a lady approach him and he gossiped and quickly he turns to me and says I am the manager.

I know this was completely and utterly untrue as never once did he act like a manager, if anything I thought Shasha was a manager as she was well mannered and apologetic for their mistakes. Danny was to defensive and dismissive. They came back with a new bill with 10% off my bill and once again Shasah was the only one being very apologetic while Danny stood there explaining she is a Hostess and not a manager and it's her first day.

If the owner is reading this please make sure Danny gets a lot of training on how to treat customers and not put the blame on the customers for ordering a dish of their choice, I am a paying customer and deserve to be a little respected and not punished for ordering something I enjoy eating.

If it wasnt for Shasha i dont think I'd have even enjoy my experience one bit. I highly doubt Danny was the manager and it seemed like the real manager didnt want to speak to us at all as she had whispered into Danny's ears...

Last night, my parents and I had a reservation at Dragon Rolls for 7:45 PM, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we found ourselves fighting through a large crowd just to speak to someone at the front to confirm our reservation. After some confusion, we were finally seated at 8:07 PM—well past our reserved time.

The server came over briefly to inform us that our reservation would be limited to two hours, with reminders throughout the evening. While this seemed reasonable, the service and organization were far from it. We ordered our drinks, which arrived promptly, but the issues began when we ordered our first round of food, which included soup, salad, and some hot dishes. After waiting 25 minutes without receiving any updates, we noticed other tables were being served while food was being delivered to the opposite side of the restaurant. To expedite our meal, we decided to order our sushi rolls. Surprisingly, they arrived first, with our initial dishes following a few minutes later—cold and clearly mishandled. It seemed that someone had left the food on a trolley and forgotten about it before it was eventually delivered to us.

Throughout the evening, we found it impossible to get anyone’s attention for assistance. We ate our sushi and continued to wait for other items to arrive, but when we ordered sashimi, it took much longer than expected. Frustrated by the slow service, we decided to order dessert, hoping it would bring some closure to our meal. However, after 25 minutes of waiting without receiving our desserts or bills, we took matters into our own hands and went to the counter to ask for the check.

When we explained our dissatisfaction with the service and overall experience, the staff member admitted that they had been overwhelmed but did not seem to fully grasp the extent of the issue. Despite all of this, we were still charged $100 for our meal. As a token of compensation, they offered us candy. After explaining just how disappointing the entire experience was, they eventually offered a $20 gift receipt. However, this gesture felt inadequate given the lack of organization, the cold food, and the overall poor service.

To add to the frustration, the washrooms were not properly maintained, particularly the men's restroom, which had overflowing toilet water on the floor. This was another clear sign of the restaurant’s disregard for cleanliness and customer care.

Dragon Rolls used to be a place we enjoyed visiting frequently, but after this experience, we have no intention of returning. The lack of organization, long delays, cold food, and subpar service made it one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had, especially considering the price. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I hope they take the necessary steps to improve their service...

very disappointed with this place i been a regular customer and i order sushi from on uber but what they did on feb 14 was just so rude very bad customer service. I did not expect this from them at all. we ordered our favourite grill calamari waiting for it for long time, so i made a reservation for 6 people at 8:30 got there at 8;15 and we didn’t get seated until 8:45 so we decided order our food which look a while cause it was busy which is fine. Then the lady come at 9:30 saying last call i’m like wth ok they close at 10. So we are ordering whatever we want at this point. So i told the waitress i’m still waiting for the grill calamari she like ok let me check and never came back to inform, and then another waitress came said last call again, so i told her we already ordered we still waiting for few things and still waiting for the grill calamari… and then her response was the kitchen is closed. we can’t order no more. So i was like wth not fair cause we order the grill calamari before 9:30pm. The lady says they probably didn’t bring it out because ur table was full :/ which doesn’t make sense cause we order something we want and they saying they didn’t bring it out because our table was full when there so many empty stuff there they didn’t take it away :/. I started getting upset cause we literally waiting on that and there talking to us and time is ticking… barely got to eat… the lady came with the bill said we can make excuse for the food on the table that they won’t charge and we can take it home. another waitress came to give us the bill and i’m like can i get the box to her pack the food, she like it’s extra charge.. i’m like omg they lady just said it’s free we can take it .. then she flips the story saying no it will be $20 :/ and then the lady said it’s past 10pm my staff is working for over time for you. You guys need leave or i’m going to call the cops :/ what kind of customer service is this place. i asked them what they gonna do with the food ? are u gonna throw it away ?! like why waste food or are u gonna be cheat and reuse the food for tomorrow. Such bad experience i had and ruins my dinner, never again going there again. Calling the...
