Authentic Egyptian cuisine in Vancouver?! Come try the exotic Koshari and experience the flavours of Egyptian street food.
We tried: ° Signature Koshari bowl (vegan) ° Beef Liver (Kebda) Bun ° Beef Sausage Bun ° Egyptian Beef Swarma Bun ° Hibiscus Juice ° Barbican (Pineapple)
The base Koshari bowl is vegan but you can add protein to it for an added cost. We opt to have it vegan to experience the authentic way of enjoying the bowl. It comes with three sauces, all made in restaurant. There's a tomato-based garlic sauce, the Da'ah (garlic limon vinegar dressing), and a hot sauce. I tried a little bit of the hot sauce and it is quite spicy! 🔥 I love the flavours and texture of the bowl! Bit crispy, and so comforting and hearty!
All the buns came in big portions. My favourite of the three is the beef liver bun as it is so full of flavour. The beef sausage is made in-house, and the sauce that came with it was so delicious. The Egyptian beef swarma bun is in a round bun and came with pickles. You can also get them in a wrap or on a plate instead. Also, if you're into sweet, definitely give the hibiscus juice a try.
There is lots of street parking available in the area. The place is cozy with a few tables. You can also get take out. There are tables outside as...
Read moreThis hidden gem was an amazing opportunity to find a great locally owned restaurant that doesn’t serve your typical cuisine! I had wandered in early Wednesday evening to find they had great deals on a Koshari bowl and a Beef Kebab wrap (I paid $12 before tip for both!). Their Koshari reminded me of great home cooked Egyptian Koshari and their beef kebab is exactly the wrap I am yet to find across the Tri Cities.
The hearty portion of Koshari is accompanied by a flavourful tomato sauce, a great homemade lemon vinaigrette and a homemade chili sauce that packs a punch! Would recommend to those wanting a hearty meal and want to try something new!
The beef kebab was super flavourful and the wrap itself had fresh parsley and onions. With wild cucumber pickles (the authentic middle eastern pickle) on the side, was the perfect accompaniment. A nice change up from the typical white sauce filled donair wraps we mostly see across the lower mainland.
For those wanting to support local, try something new or want a great meal deal, I highly recommend experiencing the great food and hospitality that Koshari Zooba’s team...

Koshari Zooba is the first Egyptian restaurant in the Vancouver area and it’s absolutely worth the visit 🇪🇬✨ The food was full of flavor, texture, and heart — you can really taste the love in every bite.
We tried the Koshari Beef Liver Multigrains Bowl and the Koshari Chicken Shawarma Bowl — both were delicious! Each bowl had rice, pasta, lentils, chickpeas, and a tangy garlic-lemon vinaigrette with tomato sauce, all topped with that perfect drizzle of tahini and pomegranate. 😍
Traditionally Koshari is vegetarian, but I loved that they offer creative twists like beef liver and shawarma for something new!
We also had the Barbican Raspberry (non-alcoholic) and it was bubbly, fruity, and refreshing — the perfect pairing. 🍓✨
The owners are super friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels cozy and authentic. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Port Moody or just looking to try something unique...
