Discovered a local sandwich spot today, first time here. I asked the boss for recommendations, and he gave me the most boss-like answer ever: “Everything’s good. Some customers eat the same sandwich for 4–5 years, others try something new every time.” Translation: you’re on your own, pal. 😂
I decided to keep it simple with a chicken salad sandwich and a small Caesar salad, while my daughter went with a bacon, ham, and cheese bagel plus fries. First thing I noticed? The portions are huge. I told the boss, and he just shrugged with a grin: “They’re always big.” Fair enough.
Taste-wise, my chicken salad sandwich was excellent—loaded with crunchy celery, balanced with just enough tomato for that tang, and tucked in bread toasted so crispy it could pass as medieval armor. The Caesar salad was more on the average side, but at least the romaine was fresh and crunchy, no complaints there.
As for my daughter’s bagel, I didn’t try it, but she summed it up with one word: “mid.” For anyone who doesn’t speak fluent teen, that means “average.” The fries, however, she upgraded to “amazing,” so at least fries remain a universal language. 🍟
Overall, a solid first visit—generous portions, fresh ingredients, and a chicken salad sandwich that makes me want to come back and test what the “5-year loyal customers” are...
Read moreAt first I thought that the lunch items were a bit pricey, but I was wrong! The excellent quality of the soups, salads, and sandwiches justified the price range. One of the two soups of the day was a delicious, thick, chicken and corn (with other vegetables diced into the mix). The tuna salad toasted whole grain sandwich was bulging with very flavorful tuna mixed with celery, and presented with small wedges of watermelon, sliced tomato, and cucumber! Much better than having standard fries. The clubhouse sandwich came on a ciabatta bun and also included slices of fruit and veggies. The Greek Salad was exceptional, including a variety of really fresh vegetables that are rarely served in even the specialized Greek restaurants... and the large side salad was only $5.99! Coffee for under $3 is seldom found at restaurants nowadays, but here it was. We enjoyed it so much that we wish we had tried it a few years ago, and we will definitely return. The picture of the homemade chili looks awesome, so that will be my choice next time. "Danny" and his wife work hard to provide great food at a...
Read moreUpdate: I am changing my review to 5 stars. I went back again and got vietnamese ice coffee with my partner and noticed that it was a lot lighter than usual and very watery. I don't typically ask for food to be taken back so I did not say anything. The owner had seen that the coffee was made incorrectly and immediately took it back and remade it for us without being asked to! I think the amount of care and pride that the family puts into their food is truly amazing. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone!
Great food and atmosphere! It's a cute little place tucked away in the corner. The service was a bit disorganized. The server took our burger to the wrong booth before realizing it was ours and they didn't include fries even though we had ordered fries with our meal. It might have been a miscommunication due to the masks making it difficult to hear one another. I would still recommend this cafe uthough as the food was much better than I had...
