We were so excited for this place since it had great reviews and was at Relais and Chateāux property. They seated us in this lovely little corner next to a fireplace, but then forgot us basically. After about 45 minutes I went to find someone to take our drink order. After a while they brought us a cocktail and nothing else for basically an hour. Finally after about an hour and 15 minutes and after 3 different servers peaked around the corner looking at our table wondering why we were sitting there one of them came up to us and took our order and brought some water. Then another 45ish minutes go by and still no food and finally another waitress comes up to us and apologizes saying the food was on the way and that they had miscommunications about who was serving us. She quickly brings us a charcuterie platter and a complimentary glass of red wine she asked if we wanted desert when we haven't even had our entree, just complete confusion at this place at all levels. No one there seemed to have any idea what was going on. We finally got our food about 2 hours after we got there. I will say our cocktail, the wine, and the food was excellent. The service was very subpar. Alyssa did her absolute best to salvage it after she found out what was happening and she is the sole reason that the restaurant is getting 3 stars and service 2 stars. She even provided us with a cool spot to go to for an after dinner drink. We thank her for the great service and hospitality, but everyone else there needs to get their act together. We always look for the Relais and Chateāux symbol because it's normally a standard of excellence no matter where in the world you are. Bar Artefact doesn't meet that standard based...
Read moreMy GF and I enjoyed a dinner here while staying at the hotel. Our server, the man with dark hair, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of.
Menu was small, which is perfect for a place like this. Great selection of wines and other drinks.
We had the charcuterie board to start. Unique selection of local meats. Tasty and flavourful.
For the main i had the butchers cut, which was a striploin steak. This is something I regularly make at home so I'm pretty critical when I order them. The steak was amazing, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. It could have used a bit more salt for the seasoning, though still a 4.95 out of 5!
My GF had the lobster roll. It was huge and also full of flavour. Lobster tasted fresh and she enjoyed her dish as well.
For dessert we had the grilled smore. I think they used a cookie, as opposed to an actual Graham cracker, but it was delicious nonetheless.
Along with the food its also the ambience of this restaurant that make it so unique. It has a great style and perfectly caters to people looking for something modern. Really love the location and being surrounded by Quebec history while eating.
Overall , an amazing dining experience. I'd definitely recommend Artefact if youre looking for a great place to eat in the lower part of...
