We attended for a meal at the Louis Hebert restaurant in Quebec, the restaurant was not particularly busy, there were many empty tables, we were initially sat next to a table of 4 middle aged people who were sat quietly enjoying a meal. We ordered our meal, the menu was good with a wide choice and the service and assistance from the waitress was excellent. We had just about finished our first course when the problems started, a young couple came in with a small child who insisted on sitting at the table adjacent to ourselves and the 4 other people. The child was sat in a pushchair. The couple ordered a meal at which point the child began screaming and crying, the couple did very little to appease the child, once their meal arrived they proceeded to consume it with little regard for the screaming and extremely annoying child. The 4 people next to us began to complain, the parents heard the complaining and simply laughed and continued to eat their meal. A couple a couple of tables further back in the tables also began to complain. The staff did nothing to address the problem but were happy to take ours and other people’s money at the end of our meals with no compensation for the disruption to what should have been a peaceful and enjoyable meal. Our meal alone was over $100. In our eagerness to leave this crèche I left a shoulder bag, when I returned some 10mins later to collect it the child was still crying and screaming. I spoke with the manager regarding this as we had made a formal complaint on our departure, he apologised for the disruption and offered us another meal, but as I explained at the time we were leaving Quebec early the following day. He still did not offer any further financial compensation knowing we could not return and failed to respond to our emails. He stated the couple had insisted on sitting in those seats, yet neither him nor any staff members asked the couple to move to another table where their uncontrollable child would be less disruptive to what was middle aged diners who were out to enjoy a quiet meal. The manager stated “what do you want me to do stop children coming in”. No what we and other diners wanted was for you to grow a pair and manage...

The restaurant's interior, a harmonious blend of historic stone walls, classic wainscoting, and ornate tin tray ceilings, created an inviting ambiance. Setting the tone for our gastronomic experience was Lucas Giacco's "Seven Days in Sunny June," a melody that subtly filled the background.
Our evening commenced with inventive cocktails. The L’Avelanche—a vibrant mix of Vodka, Curaçao bleu, lime juice, and soda—was a refreshing opener. Meanwhile, the classic vodka martini, with its crisp and clean profile, was a testament to the timeless.
The arrival of a thinly sliced, toasted French baguette set the stage for the culinary delights to follow. Its crunchy texture and warm, inviting aroma were a simple yet satisfying pleasure.
The appetizer selection was a showcase of the kitchen's creativity. The escargot encased in puff pastry, bathed in a luscious cheese sauce featuring Saint Honoré de Portneuf cheese, honey, and roasted hazelnuts, was a standout. Accompanying this was a vibrant mixed salad and a bowl of lobster bisque, enriched with Nordic shrimps and a dollop of sour cream - a dish of comforting complexity.
For our main courses, the Roasted Guinea Hen Supreme for her was a masterful preparation. Stuffed under the skin with a flavorful mushroom blend, it was paired with mashed parsnips, red cabbage seared with bacon, and a juniper-infused poivrade sauce—a symphony of flavors. For him, the Braised Beef Cheek, prepared bourguignonne style, was the epitome of comfort. Accompanied by Nantes carrots, rich Yukon gold mashed potatoes with cheese, and brussels sprouts, it was a dish of heartwarming indulgence.
Though the dessert offerings were tempting, we concluded our meal with signature cappuccinos, a perfect end to an exquisite dining experience.
Louis Hebert is indeed a noteworthy discovery in Quebec City's vibrant food scene, offering an exceptional dining experience that comes highly...
Read moreVery unsatisfied. Service was mediocre (definitely NO FINE DINING!!). We ordered the Argentinian red shrimp linguine and the brazed beef cheek, both to share between me and my wife. Both dishes came in within 5 minutes from ordering!! (fine dining??). The linguine dish was average. But the worst was the brazed beef cheek: this dish did not look nor tasted fresh: the outside was hard and the inside dry. We guesses it had been “re-heated” - how can you cook such a dish in 5 minutes??). We asked for a suggestion for the wine and the lady server told us, “The wine list is over there” (pointing to the table next to us)… We ate the linguine, but did not touch the beef and complained with the server, who in turn called the manager. The manager took away the dish and admitted that we were right with our complaint. He offered to replace it with another dish. We should have left right then and there, instead we decided to give them another chance and ordered the hen dish. The latter, again, came within 5 minutes!!?? The hen had a very bland taste, nonetheless we ate it, after all it was getting late to try to book another restaurant. We complained with the manager, again, and let him know that we were very unsatisfied and that the service and food did not meet the expectations of their ratings. The manager only said, “I am sorry”. So we paid the bill in full and left. About 10 minutes later, while we were walking nearby, the manager asked us if we wanted to speak with their chef. We agreed and told this person (we later learned from another source that he was a sous-chef or just someone in the kitchen who spoke english) the same thing. He agreed with us that the beef was not right and then added, “it was not cooked enough”…That was a lie because the beef was “overcooked”, not undercooked! They offered us some free dessert, but we declined. Too late! What a disappointment in this place. We had made a reservation (strongly recommended), but the place was...
