I recently had the misfortune of visiting L'Entrecôte Saint Jean, and it was an experience that I would rather forget. Not only was the food underwhelming, but the service was the most terrible I have ever encountered.
Let's begin with the service. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the staff had no interest in providing a pleasant dining experience. They were rude, dismissive, and seemed more focused on chatting amongst themselves than attending to the needs of the customers. It was evident that our presence was an inconvenience to them, and any requests we made were met with disdain and a complete lack of urgency.
To make matters worse, the wait time for our food was excruciatingly long. It felt as though we were forgotten in the chaos of the restaurant, left to sit and wonder when our order would finally arrive. Even simple requests for water or bread were met with indifference, as if we were asking for the impossible. The level of neglect and disregard for customer satisfaction was truly appalling.
Now, let's discuss the food itself. As mentioned earlier, the steak was shockingly thin, resembling a sad piece of cardboard more than a succulent cut of meat. The lack of flavor and tenderness was evident with each disappointing bite. It was clear that quality was sacrificed for quantity, as the steak was nowhere near the standard one would expect from a steakhouse. The portion size of the accompanying salad was laughably small, barely enough to be considered a side dish. It was evident that cost-cutting measures were taken at the expense of customer satisfaction.
Adding insult to injury, the overall ambiance of the restaurant was lackluster. The dim lighting and dated decor did little to create a pleasant dining atmosphere. It felt more like a forgotten relic from a bygone era than a contemporary establishment.
In conclusion, I cannot express enough how much I do not recommend L'Entrecôte Saint Jean. The terrible service, combined with the disappointing food, left me feeling frustrated and disheartened. Save yourself the anguish and seek out a different dining option that values its customers and provides a truly...
Read moreWe came as a tour group and got preset dinner meals which was super disappointing. We ordered the duck leg confit which we paid $65.
The kids meal we paid $30 for pasta and they didn’t even want to offer the free drink that their website offers to all kids meal.
The duck was dry and had a lot of hair. The dessert was the worse ! Stale cream puffed with ice cream. Everyone on tour agreed o duck was dry, steak was hard and dry, dessert was stale.
Service was terrible. Table beside us asked the server if she can get a hot cup of water. The super tall waitress replied it’s not time yet so I cannot give you any. First time I hear a restaurant with this kind of policy. We asked the tall waitress for bread and she never brought it to us until we asked one of the male server again. I took 4 bags of ketchup and the tall waitress gave was like why are you taking so many. Stingy service. The duck was super dry.
Truly disappointing experience. Just because we are from a tour group, they think they can give us terrible quality food and horrible service.

Regardless of pricing, your customer service was terrible. It was a very unfriendly visit. You should also take other reviews regarding your customer services.
Food was not fresh. The duck had hair and was super dry … either it was made too early and been sitting there for a while or you’ve over cooked it.
Worse dessert? Well you try eating something stale. Basically it was not fresh.
When I am not the only one who complains about the food quality and services then there’s an issue..
Hope this helps you understand why I am giving your...

During our visit to Old Quebec City, we decided to try L'Entrecôte Saint-Jean, managing to get a table without a reservation after a short wait. The location is bustling and perfectly captures the touristy vibe of the area.
We started with the soup of the day, which was absolutely delicious. For the main course, I opted for the Duck Leg Confit. I requested a larger salad instead of the usual French fries, and I was not disappointed; the duck was flavourful, juicy, and beautifully cooked. The 'Sunset on the Beach' cocktail was a delightful surprise with a robust kick of alcohol, making it a memorable part of the meal.
For dessert, we had Crème Brûlée accompanied by biscuits. While the crème brûlée was decadent and thoroughly enjoyable, the biscuits were unfortunately very dry and did not complement the dessert well.
A note on pricing – being in a tourist-heavy area, the prices at L'Entrecôte Saint-Jean are somewhat above average. However, the quick service and attentive waiter helped justify the cost and added to the overall positive experience.
While the meal had its highs, the mixed quality of the desserts and the slightly premium prices are worth keeping in mind. This spot has great potential, especially for those looking to savour a taste of local cuisine in a lively...
