Just to add some context I had booked with anothe restaurant for a 50th birthday with 16 guests which was cancelled with less than 24 hours. Frantic I call a number of restaurants to no avail.
As we were staying in the Marriott hotel I thought I would call London Belle YQR, just to see and if they was any possibility, to my surprise it was a resounding yes, I was so shocked I had to call back and just confirm to get another yes with a giggle or two. I was told they will make it work one way or another. I was so grateful as the stress the other restaurant had caused was gone in a flash.
On the day I had a cake from a local patisserie which they stored for me too, placed us in at the end of the restaurant with a break in the middle of the table which was absolutely perfect. Myself and my partner (who the birthday was for) went down at five for a drink in the bar and we were sat on the table early which was amazing.
The mixologist / bar man was very well versed and as a result our drinks were divine. Slowly more and more guests arrived and drinks were catered for almost instantly by the mixologist / bar man. He really looked after the table and there was no rush, it allowed all 16 of us to catch up with each other and like a psychic he was there just as we thought maybe we should order taking our meal choices.
Being a Brit I had the fish and chips and it is the best battered fish I have had in Regina, this is very authentic, the fries were nice but not the same as our English chips but I think that’s a cultural thing. Everybody was amazed at the quality of the food and considering their was a table of 16 most of us were all eating together, maybe a couple of us had to wait a few minutes which in my opinion is awesome service.
The atmosphere is very modern chic and the decor is calming. I didn’t feel like I was in a chain but I also still felt it was upscale. Music was on low which was nice so that we could talk. It’s a cozy place as it’s not huge but I felt the service was far more personable.
They brought the cake out singing happy birthday and it was lovely as they gave us a knife to cut it which I had forgotten and plates with cutlery to slice up and eat.
We were never rushed and as such we were there from 1700 to 2230, it was a very relaxing evening and eternally grateful to London Belle for accepting our booking. I want to give a big thanks personally to Amanda, Donna and Peter for their tremendous hospitality throughout the evening. All of them really made that evening something special and it was sincerely appreciated and will be remembered. Additionally I would like to thank Tim the owner who introduced himself to us graciously and thanked us for choosing London Belle as our venue.
If this place isn’t or hasn’t been on your radar please change that! I am so happy that the other restaurant cancelled so that we ended up here as it was a perfect night. All off our friends were also impressed...
Read moreWe will never go back. The food was awful and the service just as bad. Sadly disappointed. My wife and I went here with our infant son the first day we stayed at the hotel, the server was friendly, prompt and didn't forget anything at first. He suggested the fish and chips based on other customer feedback so we ordered a 2 piece meal to share. And then it went downhill quickly. When we tried to order a side dish for our little one, he insisted the dish came with enough fries and mushy peas to share and that our son would surely like it. We tried to persist in explaining we would like mashed potatoes if available or even just a dish of his own peas and he said "he wouldn't like our mashed potatoes" and insisted he could share our food. We tried to persist but he clearly was understanding or did not care to listen so we quit trying and waited for our food. When it arrived the batter was heavy, greasy and undercooked, the fish was bland as were the fries. The waiter came for a quality check about a quarter way through our meal and i passively said it was alright out of habit.(also we had not gotten into the fish much yet to see how it was) The waiter came soon after that and asked if we were ordering anything else or if we could pay due to shift change. (I have worked in a restaurant and know this was solely done so he got the tip instead of the next waiter/waitress, very unprofessional to say the least.) He really put us on the spot so we paid and by the time we realized the food was awful he was gone. I heard him do a cross shift with the waitress and then we waited for about 10 minutes for the new waitress on shift to come to our table. During this time she made eye contact with both my wife and I, we had empty water glasses and were clearing being ignored as we waited to inform them of the issues. We watched her go to another table that had paid the last waiter the same way we had and ask how he was doing, as well as tidy up some empty tables (it was far from busy). My wife ended up having to go to the front desk to complain and when the waitress was confronted she told us she was not our waitress, the man was our server. (The one that got us to pay and left the restaurant into the hotel area because he was off work now) However she still made a point of going to get the waiter before he left the building and made him deal with our table. He told us "well I did a quality check and everything seemed fine" Nothing was resolved at that time and we left. Luckily the hotel reimbursed us for the meal later on that night. Long story short, save your time and go literally...
Read moreSo far, this place takes the prize for the worst customer service of the year. Canada day, early afternoon, two families go in together. Only one or two other small groups in the place. After I watch the server treat two other customers rudely I was a little apprehensive. I figured I could win her over with kindness. 20 min in,…it’s not going well,… she is just a mean woman who hates her job. My wife joins us and suggests we move to the patio as it is a beautiful afternoon. I warned her about the server but she approaches anyway and asks about us moving to the patio. She is told in a pouting, 6 year old tone, “ you know, I am the only one here.” My wife says, “that’s ok” and we move our own cutlery and water out. We all look at each other bc we are getting a little tired of the service. After a few more interactions with her where she is just nasty to speak with, and by nasty I mean plain grumpy, no smile, no courtesy, no manners, (“we don’t have that, we don’t have this, looking at us like we ran over her dog) ,…….think the exact opposite qualities you would hope for in a server, we decided to leave. After 30 minutes I was the only one who had got a drink so I went in to pay for my beer. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. If I could give it negative stars I would. Cross the road and walk a block down to Original Joes. It was awesome. Great food, drinks , and amazing service. We dropped around $400 after some more...
