So... where do you start with this place?
Firstly the food is off the charts! Its really hard these days to feel like you get value for your money with take out. The depth of flavour in the dishes is something you hear about in those TV cooking shows. If Guy Fieri came here - he'd lose his mind. Honestly this place should be featured on TV. Its that good.
For years I've driven past this place, and have for the most part avoided that area of Younge street, mainly because of the parking. The parking for this unit is actually quite accessible, so its easy to stop and grab take out. With that said, after trying the food, I wouldn't care if this place was at the top of a mountain, I'd still go!
Food: My wife and I grabbed takeout on Wednesday night for dinner - I got the jerk chicken with rice, and my wife had the jerk chicken roti. BOTH were 10/10. The rice is fluffy and light, and when you look at the portion, you'd think its too much rice at first. Then... next thing you know, you've finished all of it. The chicken is cooked perfectly, the marinade is clearly some kind of recipe that only lives in the head of Aneal that maybe only 1-2 other people in the world actually know. Its genuinely authentic. We both loved it so much, that we decided to go back the NEXT DAY! This time, we tried the shrimp roti, oxtail and rice, and also grabbed the mac and cheese pie with jerk chicken. Again - ALL 10/10. The mac and cheese --- OMMG.
Service: Aneal's service is solid. He was friendly, made recommendations, and informed us of the weekend special, which they seem to rotate weekly. That's how you know food is the real passion.
Ultimately - HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Disclaimer: This place does not mess around with spicy like most places do. Usually you ask for extra spicy, and its not even close. This is cultural spice with real flavours and marinade, not franks red hot. If you ask for extra spicy, it will be. We love it, but if you TRULY don't have a pallet for extra spicy - just get the regular level of spice. Just don't complain if you ask for spicy, and you cant handle it :)
All in all - 20/10. Go now - you...

Read moreI had the luck of catching them before closing. The owner is a beauty, a very kind and welcoming man. Ordered the Large Jerk Chicken Leg and Thigh with Peas and Rice, as well as the Large Stew Oxtail Peas and Rice.
Was very glad to see that the owners were Trinidadian, as I tend to appreciate their flavours and style more so than Jamaican.
TheJerk Chicken was cooked amazing, it was tender juicy and full of flavours. My opinion Trinidadians cook their jerk chicken more to my liking than Jamaicans do. The rice was cooked a little soft but had tons of sauce and jerk sauce on top. I enjoyed it and it packed a bit of heat which I loved. The oxtail was tender but not too many flavours. The pieces were also majority bone and hardly had meat on them but I can’t put that on the owner as it was the oxtail cut they had. The coleslaw was nice, nothing special but it was creamy.
Overall I would definitely come back for the Jerk Chicken and I recommend the Jerk Chicken to anyone, I would also get a small order of rice just to munch on. Keep in mind the rice has some heat to it so if you’re like my wife it will be too overwhelming for you. I want to try The Shark Sandwich and the Wild Boar with...
