This was my first time visiting this spot with some family, and we came on a Saturday morning around 10:15 AM. I’d heard weekends, especially Saturdays, tend to be busier than weekdays, and that seemed true. As is typical for this plaza, parking is free but limited, especially during peak hours when multiple restaurants are open.
When we arrived, the restaurant was about 60% full. We were promptly greeted, asked how many were in our party, and seated shortly after they cleared a table. It was a pleasant surprise that our group of four was given a spacious table meant for six people. I do like the interior of the place. They have nicely themes decorations and a high ceiling which makes the place feel more spacious.
We ordered a variety of dishes:
T1: I don’t usually go for this kind of dish, but something about it called to me. I was a little thrown off by how many items on the menu included baked beans. The French toast with peanut butter wasn’t overly sweet, which was great, especially since you can adjust it with the maple syrup provided on the side. That said, I found the peanut butter filling a bit too much. Its thick and sticky texture in the mouth wasn’t enjoyable, and I think it would have been better if the filling was more runny.
C7: A clear broth noodle dish served with crispy-skinned chicken. Simple, clean, and satisfying but nothing too outstanding.
B4: I didn’t try this one, so I can’t comment. I've included a photo of it with my review though. Appears very filling.
C1: We actually didn’t get this dish, despite ordering it. They brought the wrong dish out the first time which had a fried egg so we asked for it to be switched out. The wrong dish was brought out a second time, but on the second mix-up, we decided to just stick with what was served since it was still good. So what we ended up trying was an ham and egg omelette with toast. The toast was nice and crispy with no crust, which made it more enjoyable. The omelette was on the drier side and the cheese used was of the plastic variety which I don't prefer. We also managed to find a similar mushroom slice in our omelette which might raise concerns for those who have allergies and worry about cross contamination.
I also ordered the iced lemon tea, which was refreshing and delicious. However, the iced milk tea was overly sweet, so much so that we couldn’t finish it, which is rare for us, especially considering we paid extra to upgrade to the iced version.
Service was friendly throughout our visit, even with the ordering hiccup. All in all, it was a decent first experience, and I’d be open to trying it again, though probably on a weekday for a more relaxed visit and hopefully...
Read moreDecided to treat myself to a nice lunch, heard about this new place already opened for a few months, can never get enough of "cha chaang tengs".
Went during the peak lunch period, should have known better, luckily their was a table available, it's all about timing or just plain luck.
When I opened the entrance door, immediately hit with a blast of ear splitting wall of chattering noise, welcome to the ambiance of Hong Kong style cafes.
Perused the menu, so many mouth watering selections, decided on the cheese baked fish fillet/spaghetti with tomato sauce and Singapore fried vermicelli pork chop.
Staff were quick and efficient, dishes arrived with minimum waiting time, upgraded accompanied drink to ice lemon tea ($1.50 extra).
First impression, dishes were large, enough to take leftovers home for those who don't have a gluttonous appetite (no offense intended but you know who you are).
Cheese baked fish fillet- negatives- minimum cheese, tomato sauce a little too sweet for my preference (can go with the option of the white cream sauce) Positives- fish was moist and flaky, large serving of spaghetti.
Singapore vermicelli with pork chop - vermicelli very flavorful, pork chop actually came cut into pieces mixed into the vermicelli.
I'm glad there's another lunch option, their baked cheese fish dish is not common in other Hong Kong style cafes
Elections are finally over, hope Canada moves forward, u do...

Visited this cafe for the first time. Grabbed a pan fried thin beef steak with scrambled eggs, etc. as my dinner.
Remember to visit the cafe and place your order before 5.30pm so that your meal will include a hot coffee or a hot milk tea without an extra charge. This will also make the meal (price plus tax and tips) more affordable.
The steak is well pan fried. Its texture is tender and easy to chew.
The bread is also well toasted. The scent of the butter is pleasant. However, I would recommend using salted butter, which may augment the toast to another level.
The scrambled eggs are smooth but a bit old.
The milk tea surprisingly strikes a good balance between the taste of tea and the evaporated milk. It also offers a dense texture, which is my favourite. The aftertaste of the tea may probably show that a mix of tea leaves are applied.
The attendants are friendly and diligent. The cafe is clean and spacious. The space between tables is also reasonable.
A star is withheld as I would see improvements in my next visit.
After all, welcome this cafe to the Richmond Hill / Markham area. It will soon become a favourite cafe of...
