Have you ever have back-to-back Vietnamese food before? We dined at the Linh Anh Unionville location 2 days ago, then we decided to hit up the Soft Opening of its Richmond Hill location yesterday. We only know about the existence of the Richmond Hill location coz the server at the Unionville location told me the 10% cash discount only applies to the Richmond Hill location.
Not that we care about the discount, but it was intriguing to see what the Richmond Hill location looks like. It's basically located at the corner at Times Square.
Moment we walked in, it's the similar furniture, decor and interior design theme found at the Scarborough and Unionville locations. This Richmond Hill location is spacious but I think the Unionville location feels and look bigger visually.
At this Richmond Hill location, it has a "L-Shaped" layout with lots of tables and chairs. There are 2 VIP private rooms for larger groups and I really like the central "Bonsai" plant section for solo diners or groups of 2 people, it feels very peaceful and relaxing.
Overall, the food and beverage offerings at this Richmond Hill location is similar with the other locations. Since I ordered the House Special beef pho at the Unionville location the day prior, I decided to order the bone marrow House Special beef pho. Quite honestly, I feel the bone marrow is a bit of a waste if put into the already flavourful broth and it's just go down the waste into the big bowl of broth. However, I ordered it to order something different. Ideally, I would luv to have the bone marrow placed on some toasty bread (not sure if they offer it).
We also ordered the fried shrimp & pork spring rolls. Super juicy, freshly fried, pipping hot with the fish roe sauce. A perfect shareable dish.
Overall, we had a wonderful time here at the Richmond Hill location. Personally, I still prefer the Unionville location coz of how spacious and big it looks from it's giant rectangular layout plus the photos on its way to the washroom plus the authentic classic of the decor of someone's home in Vietnam.
Either way though, you do get the same consistent high quality of authentic Vietnamese food offerings at either Scarborough, Unionville and Richmond...
Read moreI was honestly so excited for this location. It's a shame the food is delicious because the service is god awful. First time I went with my girlfriend Aug 6, my food arrived 20-25 minutes after hers, I let that slide. Second time I was excited to take my parents here for lunch in spite of what happened previously. My parent's food arrives, mine doesn't for 30 minutes, I speak with 5 different staff members including the manager.
Fast forward, still no food and the manager (Tom or Tim, whatever his name is) - has the audacity to come out with a slip of paper that shows a fake order time to try and prove me wrong about when we actually ordered our food and when my food was supposed to arrive when it was clear they had simply forgotten the order. My parents and I both try to explain that they had already finished their food while mine hadn't even arrived yet and all the manager does is be smug while saying "no trust me I'm not trying to say you're wrong" over and over while clearly trying to discredit me and explain that at this restaurant they "do things a bit differently". What is "differently"? Bring out orders while everyone else is done eating? My parents were uncomfortable while eating their food the entire time as we were unable to enjoy our meals together. They were visibly upset.
They have 10 staff on the floor running around adjusting chairsy, yet no one noticed my food hadn't arrived. I had to ask after being very patient. The manager doesn't know the first thing about food service and hospitality. Instead he tried to discredit what his customers were trying to say and how they feel about the situation. Needless to say our entire afternoon was ruined. The manager deserves...
Read moreWe have been drawn by the interior and menu choices and decided to give it a try to this new location of Linh Anh. We have never been to their other locations, it seems to be a popular chain restaurant. It is a very spacious and well decorated Vietnam restaurant. We arrived at 7:00pm on Saturday and got a seat right away, but the seats got filled up very quickly. We ordered A08 Beef Banana Blossom Salad - it is huge, lots of beef, the banana flower is crispy, fill up with the beef salad and eat, crunchy and tasty. Highly recommended. N01 rice roll with grilled pork and fish cake $25.95 the rice roll is very yummy, goes well with the grilled pork. Order it. S03 free range chicken pho $20.95 is more favorable than normal chicken pho, but not sure if it is because of the chicken or they added any spices. I didn’t like the strong flavor. The service is very minimal, waiters just running around, when asked for the bill, they just pointed to the front. Overall, it is a beautiful restaurant but without matching service. The price is at higher end among Vietnam restaurant. Not sure if we will go back as the biggest problem is that they don’t have grilled beef on their menu like other Vietnam restaurant. All they have is grilled pork, grill chicken, grilled beef short ribs. When asked the waiter, he told us to write on the paper, changed grilled pork to grilled beef. What a hassle, so we...
