DaTang BBQ & Beer Restaurant(Order from our website & SAVE MORE!) — Restaurant in Richmond

We went during their soft opening phase and it was disappointing. Their ventilation system has major problems that night resulting in the gas shutting off every 10 minutes. As you can imagine, no the cooking process was frustrating. The staff does not come around to explain the situation to the tables and instead avoid the guests and running around in panic. By the third tine the system failed, we had to ask for manager to refund the food that were not touched as the experience is souring by the minute; we decide to relocate elsewhere as this was just not a pleasant dinner. Many other guests are also walking out, but they kept seating new people down without letting folks know what they are walking into, and I just felt that was unprofessional and shady.

The food was also very low quality. The meats are not fresh and of all you can ear hotpot quality - basically defrosted hotpot thin meats placed on a plate which salt and pepper garnished. Even the higher priced items are of low quality such as the wagyu. We had to overload the cooked meats with sauce ir wrap it with veggie to not taste the over refrigerated taste. The pre-cooked foods are just as awful. The beef fried rice tasted very salty and stale. The shellfish with rice is not fresh. They also injected the beer tower with so much carbon so the foam is like half the tower, and by the time it settled, the tower is only half full; such shady practice.

Staff: most of them friendly but the one who were helping us was so rude. He was so lazy to split the check so he lied that the machine is so old and it doesn't split checks. And when my brother was paying he put a wrong tip amount so when the receipt came out the guy made fun of us so loudly in mandarin thinking that we don't understand. I genuinely wanted to pay more tip because I liked the food so i asked him if we can pay more tip and it was a mistake. I paid more than 20% because i wanted to make up for him. But he left with a rude face and not even a thank you. I really hate the place now and i will never go there again. What is the matter if the food is good and the service is horrible. So many restaurants serve good food with nice staff. I will never go there again....

Was here for friend’s birthday, not too busy. Overall great atmosphere, traditional Chinese style decos and interior imitates the Palace. And there were a talented guy drawing the Chinese characters and animals on the windows. Food were great, fresh ingredients and good portion, wish the chicken was better tho, it’s pre cooked so not really something I expected. Two male servers were really attentive and nice, helped us cook the meat multiple times. By surprise, the restaurant offered a beef cake to my friend 👑 and played happy birthday song on the screen.
