Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify my own experience as a guest: when I entered the restaurant, I was the one who greeted the staff first. Unfortunately, the staff member at the counter was not welcoming at all – her attitude came across as very cold and dismissive.
I also find it confusing that while the restaurant is self-serve, the kiosk still asks customers for tips. Asking for tips in a setting where there is no table service does not feel appropriate or customer-friendly.
I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as my intention is not to criticize for the sake of it, but to share an honest experience for other potential customers.
Original review: I ordered the Salmon Trio — the Aburi Inari was amazing, the other two were just okay. However, I really did not appreciate the waitress’s attitude. It was my first time there and I had no idea how to order. When I greeted her, she was on her phone and basically ignored me, barely looking up. After I looked at the menu and told her I was ready, she still stayed on her phone and just said, “You can order on the machine,” then went right back to scrolling. Really unprofessional and rude.
Great food, but terrible service. The other girl preparing the food was actually very nice though. Won’t be back for this kind of...
Read moreFinally got to try this place since opening.
Went there around 1pm on a weekday. This place has limited seating (around 6 bar stools, a table for 4, and two tables for 2), but wasn’t busy at that time.
There are menus at the front counter and you order at the kiosk on the side.
We ordered a don, two trios, and a drink, ended up around $60 for 2.
The don was pretty good taste-wise, egg was perfect, very saucy at the bottom. Only wish that it was hotter.
The pieces are all made very well. Enough sauce on the pocket so it’s not dry. There are gloves provided as well if you want to eat by hand.
For the drink, we got the osmanthus oolong milk tea with 75% sugar. Didn’t really taste the osmanthus, could be sweeter. The tea was certainly strong.
The whole place is clean, tidy, nice and quiet. There is a small station on the side where you grab your own utensils, water, straw, etc.
Like some others have mentioned, service isn’t really there other than them handing you your food.
Overall is on the pricier end. 8/10, would visit again for if I’m looking for a bite but not a whole meal. Worth a try if you...
Read moreUnusual experience stopping in at this place in Steveston. There was absolutely minimal service; customers need to order and pay via a screen at the counter. There were a couple of staff behind the counter, making the mochi and inari - they ignored me completely. When I asked for help, one reluctantly came over to answer my questions and not in a friendly way; I was made to feel like a nuisance. Oh, well, I made my order, waited as it was freshly made (finally, something positive), took my order which was not even handed to me, but left at the side, thanked them and quickly left. The mochi was disappointing - the one topped with soy bean powder had a sauce that overpowered the sweetness of the inari pocket. The red bean mochi was better, but there wasn’t much red bean throughout. My Hokkaido trio with ikura was very good - anything topped with salmon eggs is yummy to me, though. After such a bad experience with the staff’s poor attitude, I won’t be returning. I do hope that this business, only opened in June, can make improvements and succeed as it does have a...
