a tiny restaurant with literally just a handful of tables. There was only one person working the whole time we were there. He was the chef, waiter, cashier, busboy, and probably the dishwasher as well, all rolled in one 🤭🤭
its Bun Bo Hue was the spiciest BBH I've ever eaten 👍👍👍 and the beef really melted in my mouth. 🥰🥰🥰 However, its beef had no meat flavor.
Wife's not too happy with her P1 Pho. She said her soup was too mild, the tendons were chewy, and the beef was tasteless.
because it's a tiny restaurant, I was expecting its prices to be cheaper. Guess not, its prices were anything but tiny. $16.99 for a Bun Bo Hue and $14.50 for a Small Beef Pho. Sounds pretty standard but:
it's BBH is actually 11% more expensive than Thai Son, just 10 minutes walk from here. Or 24% more on a Tuesday (10% off every Tuesday at Thai Son). Thai Son's Beef Pho cost $13.25 for a Small and $14.25 for a Large or $11.93 and $12.82 respectively on 10% off Tuesdays.
Pho 37, just 5 minutes walk from here, its BBH is $17.50 or $15.75 on Mondays (10% off every Monday)
So, there's really not much incentive eating here, at least not the price. Taste-wise, not a whole lot either.
PS. It's closed every Monday. In fact, all restaurants within this plaza, with the exception of the Chinese cafe, are closed every Monday.
PSS. At least it takes...
Read moreI was there based on reviews on how generous and big portion this place was. I went there with a friend and ordered pho noodle and vermicelli bowl. I got the house special and the other was a pork with spring roll. The ordered came quick and the bowl of noodles in soup looked but wasn't sure how generous it was and I ordered extra noodle on the side incase it wasn't a ton. Boy was I wrong. There was alot of noodles on the bottom and I suspect it is at least 3 portions of it in there on a large. My friend was the same with generous amounts of noodle. The flavours were good and the broth was nicely done. I was stuffed to the max when I ate the add on. I really didn't need the add on so next time I can skip it. For under 25 we were both stuffed and was satisfied with the previous reviews on big portion with good price and food.
I recommend this place to anyone who wants value and fullness. Seating is limited to a few tables so if you don't want wait a long time you can do take out or...
Read moreI would recommend giving this place a visit! Quality is quite good honestly for the amount you are paying. So in terms of bang for buck, this hits right on the mark. I've personally tried their PHO as well as a couple of rice dishes and the rice dishes are quite good. The meats I tried were nicely seasoned (Chicken, grilled pork) and the portions are very generous. The PHO broth is good I would say and definitely a little 'stronger' in taste than one would be used to. I would say there are PHO restaurants in Richmond that have broths that are deeper, more complex in flavour than this restaurant. But what I found is the meats for the PHO is always on point. Always fresh and the meat quality is high. Also, the noodles are timed perfectly so they never come out soggy. You may think its a simple thing to do but many restaurants over look this point in the...
