ABOUT US



Pearl Castle, specializing in Taiwanese tea, opened in May of 1996 at Parker Place food court. With over 100 flavours of specialty drinks to choose from, Pearl Castle quickly transformed the Asian beverages industry with freshly-made pearls contributing to an industry boom towards bubble tea.

In November of 1997, Pearl Castle Café was opened at Continental Centre, marking the first official restaurant. In addition to offering the popular bubble tea, Pearl Castle Café also hired a number of well-known chefs from Taiwan, providing customers with a full dining experience beyond just beverages. The combination of innovative dishes, a commitment to using local fresh ingredients and carefully selected raw material from Taiwan proved successful as Pearl Castle Café quickly became a popular choice in Richmond. Chefs were provided the opportunity to excel in creativity and designing exquisite meals to conquer the hearts for those craving for authentic Taiwanese cuisine. A talented interior designer was also hired to create a modern, clean and comfortable dining environment allowing customers to enjoy their dining experience.

We pride ourselves in customer service while providing authentic Taiwanese cuisine within a clean and modern dining environment. We want to share with everyone in Vancouver a true taste of being in Taiwan. Our efforts have paid off, winning for four consecutive years the Chinese Restaurant Awards Diners’ Choice for Best Taiwanese Café.

Best Bubble...

We decided to try Pearl Castle Café because we were hungry and Dolpan was packed.

The place was busy but not as busy as it commonly is. My wife thought it would be good because it has dishes she likes.

The place was warm and inviting, staff were very friendly and the service was top notch. It is a family place so if you don’t want to be around kids, this might not be the place for you.

We were seated right away and were given a piece of paper with the table number and a QR code to scan. Upon scanning the QR code, you get the full menu; and what a menu! It is huge. Tons of options, including vegetarian.

They have lots of tea and drink options.

We ordered their Stewed Rice Vermicelli with Pig Intestines, their black Pepper beef with a side of rice, the spicy wonton in sauce, Taiwanese-style fried chicken, fermented fried pork and a Pearl Milk Tea.

All dishes were good with the beef and the chicken as my favourites. My wife compared the vermicelli to others and although it was good, she is a spoiled brat and did not find it as tasty as the ones she’s had before. She did like the chicken better than others, however and that seems to be a popular dish here. The Pearl Milk tea was tasty as well. Not too sweet and a decent size.

I been going to Pearl Castle for like 15 years!! Tonight I ordered through Uber Eats since they had a BOGO fried chicken nuggets, but I only got 1!! When I arrived at the restaurant I said there’s 1 order missing, the worker right away said call Uber Eats customer service. So I did and all they said was repeat what went wrong and there’s nothing they can do. They even said I’ll read “the terms and conditions” REALLY!! At this point I was so mad!! I had hungry kids in my car came from work and expected two orders of fried chicken nuggets!! So they had a manager called me back said the exact same thing and said it’s the merchant problem (the restaurant). Oh and they advise me to add 2 in my cart next time (duh I now know). Pearl Castle and Uber Eats just blaming each other and no one is taking responsibility!! Ugh so annoyed! There is absolutely nothing they can do for me. I worked in customer service and also my parents own a cafe!! If it’s me just give the customer the free fried chicken nuggets because they paid for it to get BOGO!! Never using Ubers Eats or going back to Pearl Castle!! Say goodbye to your 15 years...
