- the "Black Tonkotsu's" pork bone marrow broth was thick and delicious - the "Spicy Miso" is labeled as two-chili spicyness, but IMHO it should be at most a one-chili. I should have gone for the "Volcano," which is labeled as a three-chili spicyness. Nonetheless, the broth is nothing to write home to. - difference between Regular and Large size is more ramen and half an egg more. BTW, the Regular is really small. Would recommend going for large even for the ladies. - for some reason, we were given a 10% discount. We were there on a Wednesday lunch. Nowhere in the store or menu mentioned a discount at certain time or day. Consider us lucky 🤑 initially, I wanted to say that the $18.50 price tag for the large is a little steep. Now, with the 10% discount, that makes it more acceptable. 👍👍👍 [Update: Sept 26, 2023] - finally tried their 3-chili "Volcano" and damn it's hot. I am glad they used jalapeno-type chili and not the dreaded Sichuan peppercorn that numbs your tongue and lips - really hate those. Nonetheless, while eating, I was panting, sweating profusely, eyes watery, and runny-nose continuously, soaking one tissue after another. Wife looked at me and asked, "So, who died?" 🤣😂🤭 Those who yearn for a little excitement would want to try this. However, be warned, excessive chili spicyness could lead to diarrhea. 🤭🤭🤭 I was lucky this time. - pretty disppointed in the ingredients though. $18.50 for a bowl of Large ramen that get you only 1½ slices of thin Chashu and half an egg more. That's all the meat you get. Everything else is ramen. That makes it excessively expensive. Not happy, bro! - we checked out at 1 pm on a Tuesday afternoon and still we got a 10% discount. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. It seems you get a 10% discount regardless of which time or day you come. Mark up the the prices but give 10% off, that will surely give you an impression that they are generous and you would appreciate them more. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. I know one other restaurant in Richmond that also use this type of sneaky tactics. I hope it's not a trend. Quality restaurants don't need tricks to win customers!

Came here just after lunch rush on a Wednesday. We got a seat quickly and were surprised by the customizability of the ramen! You could choose noodle texture, broth strength, and amount of oil. There were all kinds of addons like butter corn, extra eggs, karasumi, and the all elusive "Veg Mountain". I got the regular black tonkotsu with normal everything and onigiri on the side. The onigiri was seasoned to perfection and a very satisfying, flavorful bite. The ramen was hot and delicious, a rich porky broth that had savory dark oil dotted over it. The egg was warm and rich (not quite as good as Marutama Ra-men) and the char-siu was pretty standard for ramen places (which means really, really good). The bamboo shoots were exceptionally good, a sharp flavor and nice snap with the bites. Noodles had a nice chew yet snapped when you bit them. The portion was just perfect to finish it and be full, but I would recommend getting the extra noodle ($1.50).

Curious on the ratings and hype. Left with an ok feeling... For my ramen I ordered the Yokohama Ie-Kei soup base; normal noodles, heavy broth, normal oil. The highlight of the dish, is the visual. The taste in one sentence. No highlights with each slurp, unless you have an egg with it. The soup base is mild with no spice but you do get the soy taste. The pork relies on the broth for the juiciness as you bite into each morsel. As I continued my path through this ramen. The journey became boring and not as glorious. If you are looking for a ramen with a mild taste, this is the place for you. It is a starting point for one's ramen quest. If you wish for a ramen that will entertain your taste buds with each exciting bite. This serving of Ramen on that day, felt lack luster. I plan to visit again, to confirm this location's overall Ramen score. In the meantime, I feel there is room for improvement for the Yokohama Ie-Kei ramen.

If you’re searching for an unforgettable ramen experience, look no further than Yah Yah Yah Ramen! Nestled in the heart of the city, this gem has quickly become my go-to spot for authentic and flavorful ramen. From the moment you step inside, the inviting ambiance sets the stage for a delightful meal. The decor perfectly balances modern and traditional elements, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Now, let’s talk about the star of the show—the ramen! The menu offers a diverse selection that caters to all tastes. I opted for the Tonkotsu ramen, and it was pure bliss. The rich, creamy broth was simmered to perfection, with a depth of flavor that spoke volumes about the care and craftsmanship put into every bowl. The chashu pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the house-made noodles had the perfect chewy texture. Every bite was a harmonious blend of ingredients that left me yearning for more. What truly sets Yah Yah Yah apart is their commitment to quality. You can taste the freshness in every element, from the crisp vegetables to the perfectly seasoned soft-boiled egg. I also appreciated the option to customize my bowl with additional toppings, allowing me to create a dish that was uniquely my own. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. Their passion for ramen was evident, as they were more than willing to share recommendations and the story behind their dishes. In a city full of dining options, Yah Yah Yah Ramen stands out for its dedication to authentic flavors and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a ramen aficionado or a newcomer to this beloved dish, Yah Yah Yah is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return and explore more...

I have seriously NEVER experienced such a bad attitude of the staff in any Japanese restaurants in Vancouver! This is my first time visiting this ramen place. However, a female staff pretended she didn’t see me when I walked in. I said “hi hello” politely and she ignored me. I don’t see any waitlist form at the entrance and no one informed me there’s one. She then proceeded to call a few names with a board on her hand while I was standing there the whole time waiting for her to talk to me. That is when I saw the waitlist, which originally was hung up on a wall totally not seeable from the entrance. She continued to ignore me and so I wondered if they are closing cuz she didn’t even bother to talk to me or hand me the waitlist. I asked her again if they are still open, but she rudely pointed at the wall and replied “write your name here” (forgot if she said please or not but it doesn’t really matter with her bad attitude). With that attitude? No thanks. I left immediately. All the Japanese restaurant I’ve been to all provide great customer service no matter how busy they are. Never got a chance to try the ramen here and I’ll never ever come back again! There’s a lot of ramen places out there which have way better...
