the "Black Tonkotsu's" pork bone marrow broth was thick and delicious
the "Spicy Miso" is labeled as two-chili spicyness, but IMHO it should be at most a one-chili. I should have gone for the "Volcano," which is labeled as a three-chili spicyness. Nonetheless, the broth is nothing to write home to.
difference between Regular and Large size is more ramen and half an egg more. BTW, the Regular is really small. Would recommend going for large even for the ladies.
for some reason, we were given a 10% discount. We were there on a Wednesday lunch. Nowhere in the store or menu mentioned a discount at certain time or day. Consider us lucky 🤑 initially, I wanted to say that the $18.50 price tag for the large is a little steep. Now, with the 10% discount, that makes it more acceptable. 👍👍👍
[Update: Sept 26, 2023] finally tried their 3-chili "Volcano" and damn it's hot. I am glad they used jalapeno-type chili and not the dreaded Sichuan peppercorn that numbs your tongue and lips - really hate those. Nonetheless, while eating, I was panting, sweating profusely, eyes watery, and runny-nose continuously, soaking one tissue after another. Wife looked at me and asked, "So, who died?" 🤣😂🤭
Those who yearn for a little excitement would want to try this. However, be warned, excessive chili spicyness could lead to diarrhea. 🤭🤭🤭 I was lucky this time.
pretty disppointed in the ingredients though. $18.50 for a bowl of Large ramen that get you only 1½ slices of thin Chashu and half an egg more. That's all the meat you get. Everything else is ramen. That makes it excessively expensive. Not happy, bro!
we checked out at 1 pm on a Tuesday afternoon and still we got a 10% discount. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. It seems you get a 10% discount regardless of which time or day you come. Mark up the the prices but give 10% off, that will surely give you an impression that they are generous and you would appreciate them more. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. I know one other restaurant in Richmond that also use this type of sneaky tactics. I hope it's not a trend. Quality restaurants don't need tricks to...

Read moreI have seriously NEVER experienced such a bad attitude of the staff in any Japanese restaurants in Vancouver! This is my first time visiting this ramen place. However, a female staff pretended she didn’t see me when I walked in. I said “hi hello” politely and she ignored me. I don’t see any waitlist form at the entrance and no one informed me there’s one. She then proceeded to call a few names with a board on her hand while I was standing there the whole time waiting for her to talk to me. That is when I saw the waitlist, which originally was hung up on a wall totally not seeable from the entrance. She continued to ignore me and so I wondered if they are closing cuz she didn’t even bother to talk to me or hand me the waitlist. I asked her again if they are still open, but she rudely pointed at the wall and replied “write your name here” (forgot if she said please or not but it doesn’t really matter with her bad attitude). With that attitude? No thanks. I left immediately. All the Japanese restaurant I’ve been to all provide great customer service no matter how busy they are. Never got a chance to try the ramen here and I’ll never ever come back again! There’s a lot of ramen places out there which have way better...
