So far this is the best Chinese food we've had in Saint John. The food was fresh, tasty and the portions were generous. My wife and I both liked that the vegetables were not over cooked. I have to admit that this is only the second Chinese place we've tried in SJ in our first year here. The first place was so bad, we got a little gun shy - it had rave reviews on Trip Adviser. However the fare is very heavily skewed towards "Canadian-style" Chinese, with emphasis placed more on filling you up than pleasing the palate. Their chow-mein is about 80% cabbage with the remainder being meat and mushrooms, their fried rice omits scallion and egg which results in it being extremely bland. They used to be so good with fresh tasting food but recently the food has seriously declined in quality...every so often, I get a bad order but now my last few orders have been terrible... Rice was bland/tasteless and mushy, the chowmein tasted "off" like the meat had started to turn bad in it and the garlic spare ribs were very tough and full of grissle. The egg rolls don't taste homemade (taste like the frozen ones you get at the grocery store) and they only have packets of plum sauce...not real stuff made there. The other weird thing is ....
