Sadly, our experience at Darkside Donuts has not been great. This is the third time we have attempted to try their donuts as our desire for them to be delicious takes control over our past experiences. The reviews on google seem to rave about how good their donuts are and it makes me question if people ever had an exceptional experience with a good donut, or if they are just used to Tim’s donuts when they are giving reviews. I usually go during the morning and expect that they should be fresh. I was wrong in this case, either the times we went the donuts were tasted as if they were from previous days, or they were just extremely stale, oily and flavourless. Although this week luckily 1/6 of the donuts was decent (Cherry Cheesecake) but it still wasn’t over the top great (5.5/10). I think for the price tag on these donuts I would expect them to be fresh, less greasy, and just overall fluffy and taste good. These donuts may be worth a shot for you but for these prices you may disappoint yourself. I think there definitely is potential here to change things around, unfortunately this is my last time buying Donuts...

Overpriced. People are taken in by the fancy icing and don't notice the sub par donut underneath. I got some honey dipped and an apple friiter. The dough of the donuts is no better than any mass produced grocery store donut in my opinion, they just cost way more. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the donuts were bought in bulk from some supplier and they just add the fancy icing at the store.

The $5 iced tea comes in a tiny plastic cup that could just fill a small teacup.

Update : Now that we have eaten all the donuts I can say they are not very good. A good craft donut should be delicate and slightly chewy. Darkside donuts are sturdy and heavy.

However... the apple fritter was amazing. It seems to be made from a different dough than the donuts. It was slightly chewy and almost crispy in spots. It was one of the best apple fritters I've had. I updated from 3 to 4 stars after eating...

After previously giving this establishment a 5 star review, I had to change it to one after the last experience there. I’m not sure what’s happened since this place originally opened, but it is not the same.

Placed a birthday order for a friend, two week before her birthday and paid online, waited the day of my friends birthday for her order to come, and it did not.

Called the store and the lady that answered the phone said they cancelled the order. They didn’t bother to call me or send me an email, but chose to do this 2 days before my order and said nothing....

No remorse from person on the phone. No trying to make things right. Didn’t even attempt to make the order, which was small. Also didn’t have my CC refunded when she said it would be, so two weeks after I called my bank and they refunded the charge.

Very poor customer service and I would be cautious about ordering...

Part of a little hip and trendy food mall, Darkside Donuts is a great place to pick up delicious creations made daily. An award winner for Best Artisan Donuts in 2019 watch out for Sunday's special surprise creation that you need to order on Sunday but they are one offs and one of a kind. The flavours were so good. We had so many hard choices we ordered half a dozen and savoured every one of them. You can tell we weren't the only ones that loved these as there was a constant crowd which you knew made these worth the wait. If you need something to chase these donuts they also serve up hot and cold beverages.
