Yesterday, Saturday evening of May 20th 2023, my wife was coming out of recovery in the CCU unit at RUH, and was starting to get hungry as it was near 10:15pm. The only option for me to find something she cold actually swallow, was the Good Earth Coffeehouse. As I approached the counter, a cheerful young lady asked if she could help me. I told her I needed to find something my wife could eat and that if she gave me a minute, I would text her with the choices and then place my order with her. I eventually chose a large price of banana loaf, and a Pumpkin Spice muffin, both of which promised to be soft enough for my wife to swallow. When the clerk inquired of me, I had to tell her that I was too nervous to be able to eat. She suggest one of the many sandwiches she had, and when I thought and then declined, she said that she was offering me any of the sandwiches at no charge, as when she closed up shop in another 30 minutes, she would have to discard any that remained unsold. I expressed my surprise and gratitude, however, suggested that she offer consider paying it forward and offering them to evening staff. I mentioned a security guard just down the hall. She suggest that if I was to mention it to him, she would happily make the same offer. I did pass by the security guard with my two purchases and told him about the offer from the young lady. He was very surprised, and thanked me for telling him. He indicated that he and his wife operate a small coffee shop in the downtown and did the same thing at the end of the evening, rather than throw good food in the trash. We both agreed that this was a good idea.
My point is to express my gratitude to this young woman, her amazing attitude and pleasant demeanor towards me. I really appreciated this as I was very stressed out at the time and her manner helped me to relax a bit. I have a feeling that she approaches and deals with all of her customers in this admirable manner and wish to thank her very much.
By the way, both of my purchases wer appreciated...
Read moreI just wanted to give a huge shoutout to Dima at the Good Earth Coffee location inside the Children's Hospital. A family member of mine was in emergency, and we were feeling really down and anxious. It wasn’t an easy day.
When we stopped by for a quick break, Dima's energy and kindness instantly made a difference. He cracked a couple of jokes that actually got us to smile, which felt like a small miracle in the moment. He also recommended some food options that we ended up trying — and they were absolutely amazing.
Dima is the perfect personality to be working in a hospital setting. He brings warmth, humor, and a sense of comfort when it’s needed most. 10/10 — incredibly impressed...
