Just had a rather unpleasant first-time visit to Prairie Sun. I travel lots for work and always seek out local microbreweries to try, and Prairie Sun was a short walk away from my hotel. It was a gorgeous day in Saskatoon so I chose this place as it had its patio open. When I first walked in, nobody greeted me or said anything, and I didn't say any signs saying wait to be seated, so I assumed it was fine to just grab a seat wherever. I made my way out to the patio and grabbed a seat. The server there then asked if I was sitting there and I said yes, and she did say next time to wait for the host to seat me. Totally fair, but maybe have a sign up indicating that? Or maybe there was one and I just didn't see it? Anyway, kind of an off-putting way to start the experience and not very welcoming. I ordered a flight of different beers, all of which were really good! I especially enjoyed the Sonyashnyk Blonde Ale, it was perfect for a sunny spring day. I also ordered a poutine off of the happy hour menu. Once food and beer was dropped off, I noticed the same server being curt and snippy with other patrons who also sat themselves at the patio, as I imagine they thought the same thing I did upon walking in. It was really off-putting. I was checked on once during my visit, and even though I would've loved another pint of that yummy Sonyashnyk, I was never asked once my flight was completed. I hastily paid my check and left. The staff, and in particular the server I had, Kendra F., needs a refresher on how to make a friendly and welcoming space for patrons. This experience left a sour taste in my mouth. I usually buy a piece of merch from every brewery I visit around North America- however, I couldn't get out of Prairie Sun fast enough. It's such a shame, as both my food and beer were great, and the brewery itself is a great space. The service, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired and I won't return based...
Read moreI’ve tried to email the manager and had no-one follow up with me, I figured I would post here so at least other people know. I came to Prairie Sun on New Year’s Eve for the show that was playing, and I wanted to express my concern and dissatisfaction with the way I was treated by one of your staff. This woman was extremely rude when my friend and I were on our way out (to go home), snapping and yelling at us and telling us to leave. My friend and I had our coats on and were ON OUR WAY to the door when she stopped us and said something to the effect of “it’s time to get out now, go home”... I responded, “where do you think we’re going?” This woman proceeded to freak out and escort us to the door, kicking us out. As a result of NOT being able to wait indoors to find transportation home, I sustained a severe second degree frostbite. It was around -47 with the windchill that evening, we did not deserve to be kicked out and left stranded in the cold just because this woman had a short temper. I am extremely upset and still in a lot of pain, over two weeks after the incident. I may have permanent nerve damage and disfiguration of my skin. Her behaviour and attitude were EXTREMELY unprofessional and resulted in significant injury, I just think that management and potential customers need to know about this, and action needs to be taken. My friend and I are not the only people she had been rude to that evening, another group of friends were treated in a similar way by her and also threatened with a “last warning” when she hadn’t previously spoken with them. I understand closing time, and that staff want to go home (I’m a server myself) but it’s NEVER an excuse to act so cruelly, negligently, or ruin people’s nights. Im obviously very unhappy with...
Read moreThe WORST customer service I’ve witnessed in Saskatoon.
I’ve gone twice now. The first time I sat at the bar for 25 minutes while we watched the bartender serve everyone around us but us. We got up and left after she served a couple who had JUST sat down before serving us.
The second time I was there was for a friend’s 30th birthday. We had reserved a table for 15-20 and were seated in the Pet Pub section of the restaurant - so completely blocked off from the rest of the restaurant (no problem for us). The service was comically slow for the entire evening, with most of us having to go up to the bar to even get a drink. At 1030pm we were asked if any of us were driving, those who were drinking said no. They then proceeded to cut us off and kick us out because it is a “family establishment.” We were absolutely doing nothing out of the ordinary when going out for drinks with friends - having fun and laughing. No one was being disrespectful or rude or obnoxious. For them to have kicked out a group of perfectly fine customers at 1030pm on a Thursday because it’s “a family establishment” is absolutely ludicrous. We were completely blocked off from the rest of the restaurant and bothering no one. I was DD’ing that night and I honestly would not be writing this if I thought we deserved this treatment at all. I was shocked, embarrassed and offended.
The service sucks here and the servers all have chips on their shoulders. Save your self the hassle and go support another local brewery that values service and...
