This is a historic & beautiful hotel in downtown Saskatoon. Its location is perfect if you want to be walking distance to several different bars & restaurants to explore. There is parking on either side of the hotel ($20 per night), and you register your vehicle with the front desk. The staff is friendly & always willing to help. The pool, sauna, hot-tub, and fitness center are really nice! They are bright, spacious, and clean. The decor & architecture of the hotel is really beautiful. Some things are vintage in a cool/unique way (like the tile in the bathroom floor) but some things are just old and need to be updated (like our bathroom door didn't close all the way due to the wood swelling over the years ... and the wallpaper had some stains etc). But they were minor things in the overall stay. The room has a fridge, coffee maker, iron, TV, hairdryer - all the basics you would need. The views from the rooms are either downtown or the river, and either way, it's a nice scene to see. We got breakfast included in our booking (through expedia), and it was phenomenal! I highly recommend the breakfast court restaurant on the mezzanine level. We had the peanut butter jelly waffles & saskatoon berry pancakes and were blown away. The service at the restaurant was incredible, too. They do have room service that you can order the breakfast items for as well. There is a lounge/bar restaurant in the lobby of the hotel and several ballrooms & meeting rooms throughout. We didn't get a chance to check out the spa, but the services offered looked great, and it seemed like a popular place. We would stay here again for sure.

Not a 4 star property. So disappointed with this hotel. Upon arrival we discovered, there is no door man, no valet parking, no one to assist with luggage. At the front desk, I was told my card didn’t go through for the hold, so was forced to swipe it twice. Low and behold I was charged two times $364x2 for the hold on the room. This hotel, right in the description claims to have high tech rooms. What a joke. There are no USB plugs. You would not be able to work at the desk as there are no lamps. The attached photos were taken at 7:45 am and the room is dark. There are two poorly lit lamps in the entirety of the sparsely decorated room. There is zero charm to this room at all. This hotel, given its historic nature should be oozing with charm There are no amenities in the bathroom that you would expect at a hotel like this. Two cars of soap and a small bottle of lotion. That’s it. The shower head has horrible water pressure in the morning and it took approx 15 mins of running the shower before there was even lukewarm water. The only thing this hotel has going for it, is it has comfortable pillows. ETA: after discussing some of these concerns on check out The overnight parking charge ($18) was reversed. It was a nice gesture Update Aug 24th: guess mgmt decided that the front desk clerk offering me free parking wasn’t cool, because they ended up charging me for parking after the fact and after I had paid my hotel bill. Nice. Don’t stay here

UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT!!

They are awful to work with for a wedding. My sister always planned to have her wedding here, they booked this venue, Adam ballroom, a year prior. Here's an overview of how badly it was managed: They provided a contract with false final price. Rosemarie the events manager who claims to have 20 years of experinece, was a nightmare to work with. Upon trying to arrange several meetings months prior to the wedding day in September, Rosemarie kept refusing, responding with "I'm busy" "Sorry that day doesn't work for me" "busy" "working" "nope don't wanna have a meeting" . As a manager with allegedly 20 years of experience, this is highly unacceptable, you can't be that busy for work without even working, and you should provide your availability and you must be responsible to reach out to your clients to arrange a meeting not the other way around. Saying that you are busy once is already a red flag but it shouldn't be the case for every single time which it was. Due to no meeting scheduled ahead of time, they left them in the dark about the details of the wedding. Without having any meetings they kept asking for money from them each month. They require the deposit to be made in person, so her fiance made those payments and the front staff was a disaster, each time he had to wait an hour just to deposit money without knowing where it was going to be spend but he had to so everything would be perfect on the wedding day. They kept emailing Rosemarie to let them know about all the fees and to please have a meeting, they gave a final price which was wrong. 3 weeks before the wedding day they had a meeting where I was present with my sister, Rosemarie didn't seem like she was excited to host us. Few days later was the final payment, when her fiance went to pay it off Rosemarie slammed them the a hefty additional fees and gratuity, approximately +4000k which was way out of their budget and were shocked with this. They asked them why since it was not in the contract, she said well this is the final price, if you can't pay you can't have the venue. We took this matter to the higher ups, Amit Singh Director of Operations, explained him what Rosemarie did , he apologized on her behalf, (Rosemarie never gave an apology just had a smug face, was probably racist) admitted that indeed Bessborough made a mistake, and breached the contract, and later told us to cancel regardless if we could pay the extra money, giving the reason "too much bad blood" between us. As a director of operations you must avoid bad blood, this isn't a high school project, when you admit your mistake you must waive all the extra charges provide written apology with compensation to satisfy your clients ,not run away from your problems. Our family is in business too and this was a very poor way of handling the situation. 2 weeks before the wedding day we were on the hunt for a new venue all because of Rosemarie. Luckily, Saskatoon Inn had availability, they are amazing with event planning, the contract had final fees no hidden extra charges. The staff there knew what they were doing. Patty Schweighardt General Manager apologized too, but refuse to give full refund, note that we had paid them around 10k and they refuse to refund even tho Amit Singh told us to cancel, we did not want to cancel, Patty Schweighardt said they will need to investigate the matter, there is no investigation needed, own your mistakes, contract was breached on your behalf, hire better staff and managers with real experience, refund us our 10 grand, provide a written apology from your staff especially Rosemarie ,the stress you gave us 2 weeks before the wedding will not be forgotten imagine someone did that to you or to your daughter. This was a disaster and very unprofessional, the customer service and values of Bessborough were shown through these circumstances. Highly disappointed and...

been coming here off and on for 35 years and checked in for an evening of relaxing and a good nights sleep after a medical procedure at a hospital near the hotel. we are from out of town 3.5 hours and dont often have the opportunity to stay at this fine hotel. The room was small but beautiful with a working TV we brought a firestick, comfortable bed and pillows, little fridge, nice bathroom and we tried the pool which was relaxing with adults and left when a family with loud little children came not a big deal just seeking peace. Room had a nice view at the end of the hall 6th floor of the river you need your key to use the elevator so good safety and remember parking is approximately 22 extra. The tiny window opens for air as the room was a bit warmish and did not want to put on the AC. Good service and response when calling to front desk earlier in the evening for some TV issues.||Settling in at 11 to go to sleep which i wanted to earlier but the neighbors next door had been talking and laughing loud with other guests in their room so gave them till 1130 and being exhausted i called down to the front desk after there was running and laughing up and down the hallway by children I called and was asking about quiet time. The doors in the rooms are big and heavy and wont shut and with the window open it slammed hard when i checked the hallway for the nature of the disturbance. The noise continued and at midnight i called again and then again at 1230 as nothing resolved. Security came to my room at which the guy next door appeared and called me names including swears for complaining and in an entitled voice said if i wanted a hotel room to sleep i should have rented a cabin in the woods. I asked to be moved at 1130 but the hotel was full and things quieted down by 1245 and i fell asleep only to be awakened 30 minutes later again by the disrespectful next door who continued his merrymaking, laughing and visiting with others way past 2 am and closer to 3 am. I called the desk again and finally fell asleep somewhere between 3 and 4 am. We wanted to move but finding a different room was difficult due to hotel capacity. Staff tried to be attentive about this.||I was told at check out he was asked to leave for that evening when i suggested no one be put on either side of this persons room as the other people on the other side had also complained and they took the parking off our bill but that did not replace the lost sleep and peaceful evening/experience. when we left at 1030 am he was up laughing talking loud shouting and visiting and his door was open part ways too adding to noise. WE are disappointed that this guest should have been asked to leave after several attempts by security that nothing changed. I will not return here now because of this experience and pay for an expensive hotel room to be kept up all night by a disrespectful and entitled to party into the wee hours with no being asked to leave. I will not ever chance this again and its the risk you run if you choose...

This hotel needs to train their staff properly. We booked 2 adjoining rooms for the weekend and physically spoke to someone on the phone to ensure our needs would be met. The lady on the phone guaranteed we would have what we requested. When we showed up we were told they didn’t have any rooms available as we requested. They could somewhat accommodate but essentially we were shit out of luck. I explained we specifically spent an hour on the phone with someone and were told this would be guaranteed. A manager came out and helped some and got us into at least two connecting rooms as we had two kids sleeping in the room beside and did not feel comfortable leaving them down the hall especially at 5 and 10 years old. They claimed they would give us a 20% discount on each room per night in leu of the challenges. We then ended up staying for an extra night. The front desk continued to put a secondary hold on my credit card now making it $5400 total hold for 2 rooms for 3 nights. I went back and talked to the manager about the excessive holds and why there was a need to put a hold from Friday when we were only staying for 1 more night. The manager guaranteed the hold would be removed and only be charged for the nights stay. The next day when we went to check out they gave the room tally and showed it was 10% discount each room per night totalling 20% I think explained this is not what was promised and the price extended stay night was an extra $100 per room per night over what we originally booked. The manager worked with me and gave the appropriate discount and removed the pet fees to accommodate. He also claimed he would have the holds removed immediately. It has now been over a week and they still have the holds on my credit card of $2100 and charged my other credit card on file $2200 three days ago. It is very frustrating as the excessive holds put me over my limit twice with added additional fees. I tried calling back and because it’s the long weekend they claim they can’t do anything until Monday next week. I also never received the bonus nights because I never booked through the app making this whole experience absolutely horrible.

There was many incidents with drug over doses and people that were stoned, drunk or trying to rob you around the hotel. The police spent the weekend in and out of the hotel trying to get drunks and stoned people out, collecting over dosed people infront of the hotel. Walking the dog was a worrisome experience as people were passed out and harassing around the surrounding blocks around the hotel. Saskatoon needs to help these people and do something about it. It does not make for an...
